Hi Everyone,
I just returned from Tamassee DAR School where we celebrated her 90th anniversary at this year's Founders" Day.
The kids were great as usual. They had a program for us on Monday evening before the barbecue and did an excellent job.
It included singing, clogging, signing (American sign language) to music, and a play. The Founders' Day program went
very well.
If you are on Facebook, check out Tamassee DAR School's Facebook page. You can also visit their website and see
the latest edition of "Tamassee Today". The website is at www.tdarschool.org. Put "Tamassee Today" in the Search slot and it will bring up several editions for your perusal. You can also sign
up to receive the monthly edition of the Tamassee E-Sunshine News. Enjoy!

LUNCH AT THE WHITE HOUSE
by Joy Dingman
(From left) Canton Chapter Regent Audrey Morrison, Chapter Chairman for Women's Issues Ruth Frock, First Vice
Regent Kay Upole, and Mrs. Morrison's husband Warren were guests of our member Janet Weir Creighton, deputy assistant
to President George W. Bush, for lunch in the White House Dining Room while they were in Washington for the 117th Continental
Congress in 2008. They enjoyed the President's favorite dessert, warm molten chocolate cake with frozen yogurt. The food in
the dining room is prepared and served by the award-winning Culinary Specialists of the United States Navy.
After lunch, Janet took them on a tour of several areas of the Old Executive Office Building, where her
office is located.

And yes, gals, that is the WHITE HOUSE in the background. What a super memory that must be for all of them.

GONNA BE A BEAR
In this life, I'm a woman. In my next life, I'd like to come back as a bear. When you're a bear, you get
to hibernate. You do nothing by sleep for six months. I could deal with that.
Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid. I could deal with that, too.
When you're a girl bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you're sleeping and wake to partially
grown, cute, cuddly cubs. I could definitely deal with that.
If you're mama bear, everyone knows you mean business. You swat anyone who bothers your cubs. If your cubs
get out of line, you swat them, too. I could deal with that.
If you're a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling. He EXPECTS you to have hairy legs and excess body
fat.
Yep - I'm gonna be a bear!

Kay Upole sent the following story:
Rabbi Stephen S. Wise was attending a funeral dinner, when a snooty lady told him that she was a
member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and that her ancestors had witnessed the signing of the Declaration of
Independence. Dr. Wise replied, " This is very well. But my ancestors witnessed the signing of the Ten Commandments."
