On Saturday, October 6th, 2012, Members, Husbands, and friends of the Canton Chapter enjoyed luncheon at the Shady
Hollow Country Club followed by a presentation by Ben Franklin. It was an informative and entertaining afternoon for
our annual HODAR (Husbands of DAR) event.

Carol Jones and Sharon Snowden of the Canton Chapter participated in
the grave marking of Colonel Zackquill Morgan, Revolutionary War Patriot, at Prickett’s Fort Cemetery in Marion County,
WV on August 11th. The program was planned by
the Colonel Zackquill Morgan Chapter. The grave marking was in conjunction with the 105th Morgan Reunion which is held annually at Prickett’s Fort. Carol and Sharon
are both descendants of Colonel Morgan.
The city of Louisville held their 60th Constitution Week Festival and
the Canton Chapter was fortunate enough to be a part of the celebration. The chapter displayed materials
free to the public to bring awareness of Constitution Week.
Colman Communications, a video production company from Chicago, taped segments of the Festival to be
used for an educational video produced for Discovery Education. It will be shown in more than 80% of the
schools in the United States and approximately 20 million elementary-aged students will see the program.
Sharon Snowden was selected to tape a segment with several children learning about the Constitution
at the Canton Chapter’s display booth. The taping went well and the chapter is excited to receive
national attention and a copy of the taping in the near future.
