Althought the revelation of Channing's death was shocking, CC found himself drawn to his former wife. The feeling soon became mutual, and the twosome remarried in a ceremony filled with love. Surrounded by their proud children and supportive friends, CC and Sophia knew it was their destiny to be together.
Fate threw them a curveball, in the form of a man called T.J. The young stud came to town in the hopes of finding a rich woman who he could swindle and Sophia became his target. She fell for him hook, line and sinker and became embroiled in a torrid affair. Soon after, CC's ex-wife, Pamela, entered the scene. CC was drawn to her since they shared a dark secret. CC got into a fight with Hal Clark and when he was killed, Pamela helped CC bury his body on the Capwell grounds. All these troublesome things caused their unfortunate break-up.
However, all was not lost. The bond their children gave them never died, and trought this bond, CC and Sophia remained close. Whenever Mason, Eden, Ted or Kelly were in trouble, they could always count on the support of both their parents. They weren't only there for their children, but for each other as well. It was particulary touching when Eden decided to get married on the estate where she was concieved. As their daughter recited her wedding vows, CC and Sophia remembered the love they once shared. Unfortunatly, memories weren't enough for them to get back together.
CC decided to write his autobiography and hired Megan Richardson to be his ghostwriter. The business relationship soon turned into a loving one and Megan moved into the Capwell mansion. Another addition soon found his way to the mansion, Megan's son, Greg. However, Greg wasn't only Megan's son-he was CC's son, too!! Megan soon confessed that she had a brief affair with CC many years ago, and from that union, Greg was born. Megan discovered that she had leukemia and left town, hoping that CC would take care of their son.
Sophia soon found herself back in CC's arms. She loves him and it seemed as the couple were back on track. The conniving Gina did everything she could to throw a wrench in their plans. She and CC began an affair, but he broke it off when he realized he didn't want to lose Sophia. He vowed to make his marriage work.
Both CC and Sophia noticed that Eden was becoming more and more distant, and eventually found out she was suffering from a multiple personality disorder. In the height of her illness, Eden, believing she was someone named Lisa, ran along the California cliffsides, trying to get away from Cruz. CC and Sophia were in a boat below the cliff, also trying to reach their troubled daughter. However, all their efforts couldn't prevent Eden's tragic fall from high atop the cliff to her watery death. During the time of the tragedy, CC and Sophia leaned on each other more then ever.
When brunette, Suzanne, arrived in town,Sophia felt a strange connection to her. The connection soon became clear-Suzanne was really Eden! She survived the fall and now believed she was a childhood friend, Suzanne. Before anyone found out the true persona, Eden submerged into yet another personality, that of her dead brother, Channing, and shot Sophia. Eden then left Santa Barbara, never to return.
Sophia awoke from her coma, but not before learning about CC's affair with Gina. This, combined with Eden's illness, was too much for Sophia to handle and she divorced CC.
They each other found other partners in which to share their lives. CC became involved with Santana, the daughter of the Capwell maid. Their love was destroyed by CC's lingering feelings for Sophia and the tragic miscarriage Santana suffered. She later left town.
When Sophia came out of the hospital, she stayed a while in the Capwell house. Sophia and CC became closer then ever and found their way back to each other.
