At the same time, in 1965, she was asked to try out for Miss America. Judith has never been a girl who wanted to be Miss America." I think I had feminist politics at that time even before they really emerged. And I felt like a racehorse".But, the people who were setting up the pageant in Pittsburgh asked her because she had been doing work at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and because she was student at the Carnegie Mellon University (and of course because she was really pretty!).So, she accepted, got past all the preliminaries , was a contestant in the Miss Alleghany county and won. Then, she went to the state and won title of Miss Pennsylvania. |

After her years in the Carnegie Mellon, she went to New-York to start her career. She first worked as a waitress in a restaurant in the evening, to survive and to be available during the day for the auditions. She made a few commercials for a time but finally was engaged to play in the pilot of a new serie. "I was so happy...my friends couldn't believe it". So, Judith left New-York to go to Los Angeles where the soap should have been shot. But unfortunatly, the role of Judith was canceled. She was alone, in a city she didn't know, without any job and during the christmas time. She stayed 7 years in California before going back to New-York. There, she became lucky. In 1973, she was engaged to play in "General Hospital". Judith began the first of several stints on Daytime TV when she landed the role of Augusta McLeod. |
