January 2000
A new millenium, and a new year with chess in the northern part of Sweden!
We are waiting for the chess festival in Skellefteå 20-24 April.
It will be a strong and interesting event:
16-24 April Skellefteå Kraft -Sweden Ladies International
16 women will compete in a WIM-tournament. 9 rounds with 40 moves in two hours and one hour for the rest of the game.
Participants from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Polen and Russia.
20-24 April soLett Chess Open
The second edition of the nice tournament at Scandic Hotel. Eight grandmasters are registered 1/2 2000.
Participants from several countries will compete.

Invitation to the Open District Championships in Norrbotten 2000 (only in swedish).
The tournament takes place in Luleå.

The only team from Norrland in the highest swedish serie (ELITSERIEN) is SS Luleå.
The top players in the team is IM Robert Åström and FM Emil Hermansson.

Fredrik Lindgren (Our Online-Gamebase Editor ) has won the B-group in the 1999 Lost Boys tournament in Antwerpen.

The very nice tournament was played in Boden, September 24-26.
Some of the Swedish top-players were invited: GM Agrest, GM Hector, IM Lyrberg and IM Ornstein.
Svenska Poolfabriken and Hans Persson made it possible to organize the tournament !
August 1999
The strongest open tournament in the northern part of Sweden will be played at Scandic Hotell in Skellefteå April 20th-24th 2000.
The last year event was very strong, with 5 IGM:s and 5 IM:s. 72 participants from 9 countries.
