Chalk Talk 101
The following is a quick explanation of the most commonly seen trail marking and even some of the not so common. All of these checks as well as everything else at the hash are optional. You don’t have to show your boobs/package if you don’t want to. Everything is entirely by choice. Remember, with every choice in life there are consequences, and the consequence for blowing through checks is normally the hash shit, so consider yourself warned. Please pass this on to Virgins and relatively inexperienced hashers so they have a vague idea of what the hell is going on on trail.
This is hash… it will be a small dollop of flour in a circle shape
if the hare is using some sort of dispenser or…
just a big ole blop of it if the hare is using a bag of flour and his/her hand
(that’s the most common method)…
3 or more dollops does not NECESSARILY denote true trail…
This is a Harrow or “True Trail” Arrow…this denotes true trail…do not be fooled…the real thing always has 3 hash marks across the arrow…if it has more or less than 3…
the trail may not go that way, or the hare is fucking with you…or drunk…

These are both intersections…this means trail has come to a point where you have to figure out which is the right way to go…when true trail is found, please mark which way it goes by kicking the flour in the direction of true trail or by marking a hound’s arrow with the small piece of chalk you should be carrying with you…
These marking are BT (Bad Trail), Bad Trail, and UBF (U Been Fucked)…
this means…you’re going the wrong fucking way…
so go back to the last intersection and try again…

CB
69 |
This is a “Check Back 69” you must check back whatever number of dollops of hash that appears next to the “CB” …
It could be 1…it could be 101…who knows…
This is a “Whichy Way”…
Trail will go off in two separate directions…now here’s where it gets tricky…
Some hares will specify that both will be true trail…
While others will tell you that one will be false…
Hopefully…the guy explaining the chalk talk that day will have clarification from the hare as to which Whichy Way it is for that trail…
This is a “Come Together”…
Ex-Korean hashers may also know this as a Merge…
If on the Whichy Way both directions are true trail…
There should be one of these so that we all get to the same party…
The following “Check Marks” all become intersections

This is a whistle check…blow it…(your whistle …not the check…DUH!)

This is a song check…wait for your fellow hashers…sing a song…then you can continue…

C |
This is a clothing check…you and another hasher
(Preferably opposite sex…it’s just more fun that way)
swap an article of clothing…hat, watches, glasses, and rings don’t count…

This is a naughty check…stop …bend over… and let the next hasher coming up spank you on the butt…if you’re the last person…
Spank yourself…

BA
N |
Same as a naughty check only the “BA” stands for Bare Assed or it will be spelled out…
(this check is not so common)

This is a scenic view… stop and smell the roses…
This is a satellite check…same as an intersection but the first dollop of hash could be anywhere up to a ¼ mile away and will be true trail…
(BVB loves these God-awful things!..not very common)

These are Beer Near or Beverage checks…somewhere close to this check will be something to quench your thirst…
If a local hasn’t stolen our beer again that is…
This is a boob check…
Ladies…show us what ya got…
and then go find trail while we wipe the drool off our chins…

These are package checks…
(the second one will probably only be seen if the hare has a Soju Flashback)
Men…show what ya got…
complain about how cold it is…then press on…

This a virgin check…
(another Korean Hash Flashback)
Just make sure your virgin ain’t lost if you brought one…

ON IN |
This signifies the end of trail…sign in and have fun!
Some other instructions may be written on trail such as
“BC”…be careful
“BVC” …be very careful
“BVFC” …be very fuckin careful
“ON A +” …on across (on a cross)
More may be seen… but you should be able to get the idea…
