*Desktop themes are fully compatible with WindowsXP, but retain the "Classic Windows Style." I have now made WindowBlinds skins to make the desktop style even better. WindowBlinds custom skins Windows98-XP operating systems in a similar fashion to the "Windows XP style." You can download the free version of WindowBlinds at www.windowblinds.net.

    Installing Themes:
    1. All files are Zip files. Pre-WindowsME users must have WinZip installed on their computer.
    2. Download the desired desktop theme to anywhere on your hard disk.
    3. Open the .zip file. Pre-XP users may wish to extract all the files into their own directory, such as C:\Program Files\Savage Themes\. Users of Windows98/2000/ME with Microsoft Plus! may choose to install the theme in the Plus! theme folder (typically C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes\). Because themes can be fickle on WinXP, these users should install it in their default themes directory (C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\). Installing into these folders generally make them run better.
    4. IMPORTANT! Certain themes come with a specific font packaged in them. This font must be installed on your computer before applying the theme! To do this, simply copy the font file into C:\Windows\Fonts or into "Fonts" under the Control Panel.
    5. The theme can be applied to Windows in several different ways. The easiest is to right-click on the .theme file and click "Apply Settings" or "Open." Plus! users can also go to Control Panel > Desktop Themes to open Plus! and choose the file from the drop-down menu or "Other..." to browse for it. XP users can right-click on their desktop to enter Display Properties and choose the theme from the theme menu or browse for the theme.

    Installing Windowblinds skins:
    1. Download Windowblinds from www.windowblinds.net and install it on your computer.
    2. Download the .wba or .zip file to anywhere on your hard disk.
    3. Right click on the desktop to enter the Display Properties, and then go to the "Appearance" tab
    4. Click "Add" and browse for the file. Choose OK, then choose the new skin from the drop-down list.

    Installing Screensavers:
    1. Download the accompanying screensaver and open the .exe file.
    2. Install to your computer's screensaver directory (In most cases, this will be C:\Windows\System\) or to the folder you installed the theme.

    Installing XP Logons:
    1. Download LogonStudio from www.stardock.com and install it on your computer.
    2. All files are zipped copies of LogonStudio's native .logon file. Download the file and then unzip it.
    3. Open LogonStudio and click "Import." Browse for the .logon file, and click "OK."

    Installing XP Boot Screens:
Note: These screens are NOT compatible with Windows XP Service Packs. Make sure your computer does not have service packs installed before installing boot screens.
I'll first explain the easiest, although not always the most preferrable, way of installing boot screens. SGLL is not responsible for damages should your computer not boot properly after installation!
    1. Download the .zip file to your hard drive and unzip it.
    2. Browse the C:\Windows\System32 folder and find ntoskrnl.exe. Rename it to ntoskrnl.bak.
    3. Copy the ntoskrnl.exe you downloaded into the same folder.
    4. To revert to the original boot screen, delete the new ntoskrnl.exe, and rename the ntoskrnl.bak to nrtoskrnl.exe.
If you are less experienced with computers, here's the safer way to install boot screens:
    1. Download the LogonUI & Boot Randomizer from UserXP and unzip it into its own subfolder of C:\Program Files\. Inside that folder, create a subfolder called "Boot" and inside that folder, create a subfolder named the same as the boot screen you are downloading. (So you should have something like C:\Program Files\LogonUIBootRandomizer\Boot\Affirmation\.)
    2. Download the boot screen. Extract the contents to the last subfolder you created.
    3. Run LogonUIBootRandomizer.exe. Go to Boot>Browse for a boot file and find the ntoskrnl.exe that you extracted.
    4. Double click the thumbnail to choose the boot screen as defalult.
