Egg-citing KIIDS Labs!

Kids Involved In Doing Science

A Floating Egg-sperience!

PROBLEM: Can you make an egg float in water?

PREDICT: What do you think will happen?

TEST AND OBSERVE: Follow these steps and write down your observations.

1. Place your egg in the container.

2. Fill the container with fresh water - to approximately one inch from the top.

3. Place the salt, one tablespoon at a time, into the container. Keep track of how many spoons of salt you put in.

4. Be sure to stir after each addition so that the salt dissolves. Do this carefully so you DON'T CRACK THE EGG! What happens?

CHALLENGE: Can you estimate how much fresh water would need to be added to sink the egg to a half way point?

CONCLUSION: What did you learn? You will write a conclusion statement in the classroom.
