Depression Screening
NAMI McHenry County

Nobody has to know

The National Mental Health Association has announced the launch of http://depression-screening.org, a new Web site enabling people to take a confidential screening test online for depression and find reliable information on the illness.

Clinical depression is a common yet serious illness that affects an estimated 19 million Americans each year. Despite its prevalence, depression remains largely under-diagnosed and under treated. In fact, less than one-third of people with depression ever seek help, even though depression can be effectively treated in about 80% of all cases. The Web site's mission is three-fold - to educate people about depression, offer a simple and confidential way for people to get screened for the illness, and guide people toward appropriate professional help when necessary.
