DEMOLITION DERBY RULES FOR AUGUST 7, 2004

Demolition Derby Rules

 

 

1)     Any car or station wagon is allowed, except jeep, trucks, vans, carryalls, limos, ambulance, hearses, or 4x4 convertibles.

2)     All cars MUST have front doors painted white with black numbers, your choice 1 to 100.  NO PROFANITY anywhere on the car

3)    All glass must be removed before reaching track and burnable material such as headliners, carpet, door panels and etc.  No spare tires, broken glass or trash etc. allowed in cars.  Vacuum the glass out if you have to.

4)     Any type of automotive radiator may be used but must be mounted in stock position.  Fan may be removed.  Heater core may be bypassed

5)     Batter may be moved, but if moved it MUST be carefully fastened and covered in passenger side floorboard.

6)     Stock gas tank must be removed from original position and mounted in rear area and secured by seatbelts or added metal straps.  NO CHAINS OR RUBBER STRAPS or round bottom tanks.  A marine (boat) fuel tank recommended.  All tanks MUST have a secure cap.  All lines and fittings must be leak proof and meet approval from officials.  No bigger than 8 gallon cell.

7)     Stock seat belt allowed with shoulder harness, 4 or 5 pt harnesses allowed with racing seat.  Window net recommended.

8)     Roll cage recommended with drivers door support.  The roll cage cannot extend out of the drivers compartment.  No part of the roll bar allowed to pass through the firewall.

9)     No special bumpers, trailer hitches, or any reinforcements except drivers door.  No concrete allowed anywhere in car.

10) All frames must remain stock.  Any driver caught with altered frame at check in inspection will not be allowed to enter the car.

11) Any engine or transmission may be used in any car, but must be mounted in a stock position.  Transmission oil coolers permitted.  Any type  of transmission shifter allowed.

12) Engine cooling system must be drained and flushed free of antifreeze.  Air conditioner Freon R-12 must be properly evacuated from system.  This work must be accomplished BEFORE arrival at race sit.

13) Chained, welded or homemade motor mounts will be permitted.

14) Any type of header is allowed, but MUST be directed away from driver compartment.

15) Any automobile rear end (NO TRUCK OR FLOATER REAR ENDS) can be used in any car.  This rule does not mean you can transform a coil spring to a leaf spring.  On modes originally equipped with leaf springs stock leaf springs and hangers MUST be used.  On models originally equipped with coil springs, stock springs and trailing arms MUST be used.  No solid suspensions allowed.  Limited slip & locked rear ends allowed .  Any  gear ratio.

16) Only sixteen (16) inch or smaller tires and wheels will be allowed.  NO SPLIT RIMS ALLOWED.  NO paddles, pulling or cut tires.  Tube or tubless type D.O.T. tires only.  If the D.O.T. will not approve it, we will not either..

17) Doors:  All doors must be chained shut or welded.  If either drivers side door comes open during derby, car will be disqualified.  Trunk:  If welded , may weld 2 and leave 2 or may weld 4 and leave 4 or may be chained.  No seam welds on trunk.  Welded trunks must have a 12 by 12 hole for inspection.  Cutting fenders and bumpers for wheel clearance and/or restrictions of steering is permissible.

18) Hoods MUST have (2) holes, at least for (4) inches in diameter, on each side of carburetor. Hood required to compete.  HOODS: CHAINS ONLY.  NO WELDED HOODS!

19) All  cars must have a fire extinguisher (ABC type) within drivers reach.

20) Anything not specified in rules must remain stock.  Definition of stock = as produced by the manufacturer, Ford, GM, Dodge, etc.

 

 

 

Driver Rules

1.      These rules are intended as a guide for conduct of the sport and in no way quarantee against injury or death.

2.      Driver must be at least 16 yrs old.  NO passengers.

3.      Idle only in the pit area, no hot Roding.  A car found to be illegal in the tech line would forfeit their entry fee.  Providing their car cannot be brought to specs at least 30 minutes before the show starts.

4.      The driver is the sole spokesman responsible for his own car, and his/her pit crew and family.  One person affects the whole team.  Violation of any/all rules can result in the driver and pit crew being banned from the show. 

5.      Unsportsmanlike conduct (fighting, language, etc) by any driver, crewmember or family member will be cause for disqualification.

6.      All drivers are strictly prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages before competition.

7.      All drivers must attend the drivers meeting scheduled before the derby.

8.      All drivers must have a HELMET and NECK BRACE.  Full fire suit or, long pant and shirt or jacket and closed toe shoes.

9.      No intentional drivers door hits, this is cause for disqualification.  Official discretion.

10. All cars will be teched before the derby.

11. You must hit a moving car every minute.  DO NOT play opossum or sand bag.  Last aggressive hit wins.

12. No racing radios or any type of electronic 2-way communication

13. In the event a vehicle catches on fire the official will red flag the event, the car may not be allowed to participate.

14. All cars must remain with-in the boundaries at all times.  If a car is pushed outside  of the boundaries it must reenter ASAP or be subject to black flag.

15. All drivers must remain in their cars with seatbelts fastened and helmets on until the derby is over. (Except for fire)

16. Inspection flag must be removed when car is finished or disqualified, or you will still be live bait to be hit

17. All judges decisions are final, there is no appeal process.

18. We reserve the right to refuse any entry

19. Red Flag means ALL drivers stop.  If an emergency occurs during the event, all cars will be stopped, then restarted from present position. 

20. Black Flag means YOU are disqualified.

21. Green Flag means LETS DERBY!!!
