Sailormoon: CyberNet Chronicals
Log 1: CyberNet Leader - Echion is Awakened

A girl with sky-blue hair looked out across the city which had only recently come under her protection. Most buildings had crumbled to rubble or collapsed. Much like her own house had collapsed three years prior. If she squinted, she could just barely see the tip of her chimney. What was left of it, that is. Her family's screams and cried echoed inher mind, and she shook her head to clear it. The girl lightly touched her robotic arm in remembrance of that incident. Sailor Sabazius tapped her electronic bracelet and two small antenae shot out.
"Minthe here. What's up?"
Sabazius hesitated for only an instant before reporting the eerie quiet of her current sector. The communicator clicked twice as Minthe tested coordinates in her computer visor. Several seconds later, six numbers flashed across Sabazius' communicator bracelet. She nodded, and slowly made her way through the dreary streets of Tokyo. The sounds of a struggle caught the girl's attention. She ducked down a sidestreet. The noises grew louder. Sabazius stealthfully crept along the side of a grayish wall and peered into the abandoned dilapidated Hikawa Shrine. Five beings in dark cloaks fought a battered blonde girl. They had cornered her against the back wall of the shrine. The girl wiped a trickle of blood from her mouth, then launched a kick at the closest figure. The figure caught the girl's foot in one hand and flipped her backwards onto the pavement. She groaned as her body made impact with the cold hard ground, then lay still. Sabazius gasped in mixed shock and terror. The cloaked beings turned at the sudden sound. The tallest figure waved its hands in a mystical circular motion. A small greenish ball gradually formed between the figure's bony hands. Sabazius stood in the doorway, her eyes moving from the glowing sphere in the figure's hands to the unconscious girl behind the other hooded beings. She quickly tapped her bracelet again, and whispered 'silencer.' Immediately, a sharp reaper-like weapon materialized in Sabazius' hand. The figure released its glowing ball in a shower of sparks. Sabazius lifted her weapon to the darkened sky.
"Silencer..." Sabazius' tiara star shimmered as the senshi closed her eyes. Black ribbons of smoke from the air swirled around her glaive in lazy circles, solidifying as they touched its razor-sharp edge. "Smoke Ribbons..." She opened her eyes, bringing the glaive closer to her body. She twirled once, then slashed forward in one quick movement. "Slice!" The smoke ribbons leapt ahead, slicing the oncoming sphere into fragments which fell to the floor like glass shards. The hooded figured shrugged, then vanished in several waves of grayish shadows. They had accomplished their task. Sabazius breathed a sigh of relief as she hadn't wanted to truly fight those beings. Then she remembered the blonde and ran to the back of the shrine.
The girl was slumped against the place where a fireplace had once been. Her pale blue shirt and skin-tight violet pants were covered with dirt and torn in several places. Her ankle boots appeared to have suffered the most damage. Both boots were ripped down one side as if they were paper. Sabazius felt the girl's wrist for a pulse. It was steady and strong. 'she must have put up some fight,' the senshi thought. Suddenly, the girl coughed. Sabazius moved the girl into a more comfortable position.
"Who-?" the girl asked, turning confused violet eyes towards the senshi.
"I'm Sailor Sabazius," the senshi replied, "Why were those Corrupted Ones fighting you?" The girl shook her head slowly as if it ached, then leaned backwards. Her back lightly touched the wall, and Sabazius almost reached forward to catch her.
"My name is Thriae." The girl sighed deeply. "Thriae Autolycus. I'm the only living descendant of the original Sailor Mercury." Thriae noticed the puzzled look on Sabazius' face and smiled. "As you probably know, Mercury had three children. Coeus, Metis and Hermia. Metis was my mother, but she was kidnapped several years after I was born. We never heard from her again, and I'm an only child. My aunt Hermia had no children, while my uncle had twins. The twins were killed in a electric accident. At least, that's that was told to the world. I have my doubts." Thriae shrugged. "My aunt died from natural causes, my uncle went insane. I currently live with my father. I think the Corrupted Ones are killing all descendants of the original eight senshi. I knew a girl about four years ago who was a descendant of Venus. She was pulled from school suddenly, but my classmates never missed her. I was the only one who was actually able to remember her at all. It was as if she had been wiped from their minds, as if she had never existed. Quite illogical, ne?" Thriae looked down at her clothes, then her eyes rested on her boots. She mumbled a few inaudible words under her breath a bit angrily.
"If you're a descendant of Mercury-" Thriae looked up. "The only living descendant," Sabazius corrected herself, "then you must be a senshi." Sabazius waited for a reply, but Thriae only shook her head. "Everyone has the potential to become a senshi, descendants of the originals more than most. Sometimes, abilities are just lying dormant, waiting to be released." Sabazius extended her glaive before her. "Here. Touch silencer." Thriae looked at Sabazius' face for a few seconds, then hesitantly reached out to touch the long black handle of the weapon. Her eyes grew wide as a deep blue aura surrounded her. A similiar aura, oly lavender, radiated from Sabazius. "As I thought," Sabazius whispered, "we've been waiting for you. Thriae, you are a senshi. Destined to become our leader, you are Sailor Echion."
A black headset formed over the top of Thriae's head, and a small communicator microphone curved away from one side to sit before Thriae's mouth. Instantly, the microphone flashed brightly. Waves of pale blue sparkles swirled around Thriae as she released her hold on Sabazius' glaive. The sparkled whirled faster and faster, forming into a column with Thriae in the middle. A single word brokw through the shimmering column, and the sparkles disbanded. Sailor Echion twirled once, her tiara star glowing brightly on her forehead. Her tiara formed soon after. Echion ended her transformation with one hand propped under her chin, the other holding the first's elbow. She looked over at Sabazius.
"You're Saturn's descendant," she said in a low voice, "the senshi of silence. Thank you for awakening me. I remember now." She turned her eyes towards the blood red horizon. "I remember when those Corrupted Ones stole my mother away, but not me." A sudden beeping caused both senshi to jump with fright. Sabazius tapped her bracelet, and several numbers blinked across it. Echion lightly touched her headset to hear a shrill voice sending commands in as stern a tone as she could muster. The voice halted, hearing a quick click on her line.
"Minthe, I found and awakened Sailor Echion."
"The CyberNet leader?!" the voice squeaked, surprised.
"Hai." Sabazius looked up at Echion. "Minthe Erinnyes, Sailor Phoebe. She's the youngest descendant of Pluto, and the one who woke me."
"Oh, feel free to give away my identity!" Minthe exclaimed sarcastically. Her voice immediately took on a more serious tone. "Only true senshi of our age carry a jewel which is basically their power source. When a senshi is in grave peril, it increases the senshi's abilites. The jewel must never be removed from a senshi, for they will become a Corrupted One, or worse. Sabazius carries the jewel known as the Shadow Amethyst, while you Echion carry the Clouded Diamond. Only four jewels exist, all of which-"
"Minthe, you're boring us," Sabazius interrupted.
"Humph," Minthe pouted, "Fine. I'll stop babbling, and meet up with you guys later." Ecion's headset clicked once, then was silent. Sabazius checked her bracelet one more time to verify the coordinates, then looked up at Echion.
"She tends to ramble on a lot, but she's a great kid. a bit boy-crazy, a bit childish, but a great kid." Sabazius liften her hand, palm up. "I think the weather's changing," she commented.
"Change is good," Echion agreed. Neither senshi spoke for a minute, then Echion broke the silence. "You know, I don't think we've been formally introduced."
"I suppose we haven't," Sabazius replied with a wink, "I'm Rhea Obsidian." A raindrop plopped onto Sabazius' head, followed by several more. Soon the whole area was covered with waves of grayish droplets. Echion briskly walked to the back of the temple. She searched through some rubble to find a brown school satchel. She undid the two clasps carefully, and pulled out a travel umbrella. It looked almost silky at first glance. Intricate circuit designs lined its edges and light fringed trim fell gently under the patterns on the bottom. The umbrella opened with a slight mechanical noise after Echion gave it a quick jerk. She walked back to Sabazius and held the umbrells high enough to shield them both from the steadily falling rain. Sabazius turned and thanked Echion for her kindness. Echion grinned in reponse.
