Sailormoon: CyberNet Chronicals
Log 3: A Simple Mistake

Two girls stood before the front doors of Bio-Tech High School. The humming of several working computers drifted from the nearest window, while the faint sounds of a teacher's voice could be heard from a higher window. Thriae took a deep breath.
"Are you allright?" Rhea asked, putting her hand on Thriae's shoulder.
"Fine," Thriae answered, "I guess I should get going. Mrs. Megaera will have a fit if I'm late to class. I'm an assistant teacher for computer programming. It's time-consuming, but a great hobby nonetheless." She paused. "Well, I'll see you after school. Are we meeting at Hikawa again?"
Rhea nodded. Thriae turned and touched her hand against a small metal panel near the door. It beeped twice, then the doors slid open with a quick click. Thriae stepped past the silvery doors, which slammed shut behind her. Rhea waited until Thriae had started walking down the main corridor before she left the premisis.
Thriae's footsteps echoed off the dull walls of her school. Every so often, she would turn her head to peep through the holo-door of a classroom. Suddenly, someone grabbed her from behind and pulled her backwards into a side-passage. Thriae turned around angrily, then breathed a sigh of relief.
"Adrius." She laughed a little. "You scared me!"
Adrius grinned and ran a hand through his brown hair. "Sorry about that. I wanted to tell you that Mrs. Megaera's absent today. Comp. 1 is your class now. The kids are acting terribly out of control."
"I can handle them. Is the lesson plan on her desk?"
"No," Adrius replied, shaking his head, "It's not anywhere in her office, either." Thriae raised an eyebrow, surprised that Adrius had gone into the teacher's office. Adrius produced a small megaphone from behind his back and offered it to Thriae. "You'll probably need this." She took it from his hand and hastily stuffed it into her school satchel.
"Arigato." She smiled then glanced at her watch. "Geez, I'm late." Thriae stood on her tiptoes to lightly kiss Adrius on the cheek, then raced down the corridor. She stopped before the fifth door on the left, straightened her pale blue skirt, and walked through the holo-door. As soon as Thriae entered the room, a paper airplane lodged itself in her hair. She pulled it out, then reached into her satchel for the megaphone.
"Everyone, get in your seats!" She boomed through the leven 3 intensity setting. "I want all of you to take out your computer chips now!" The students scurried to their seats and most began rummaging through their satchels. Adrius appeared behind Thriae, placing his hand on her shoulder. She looked up and he winked. "Turn to cell 51 and finish lessons 5 through 8." Several students in the back of the room groaned. Nevertheless, the classroom soon filled with the clacking of computer keys. Thriae gazed around the room, content that the class was following instructions. Her eyes rested on two girls in the back row. Both wore the school uniform of Sector K, the next corridor over. Thriae walked over t Mrs. Megaera's air seat and placed her satchel on the hollow floating desk before it. The air seat hovered an inch above the floor, and Thriae climbed onto it. She flipped open the left arm of the air seat. A small control panel with a diagram of the classroom popped up. Thriae lifted a small computer out of her satchel. She pushed three buttons, then noticed a strange symbol in the left corner of her computer.
'That looks like my tiara star!' Thriae though, surprised. She shook her head, then brought her attention back to the misplaced girls in the back of the room. She placed her index finger on a small black panel. Immediately, the screen lit up with calculations. Her fingerprint flashed across the screen briefly. Thriae pointed to the back seats on her diagram. She heard two gasps of surprise and looked up. The bck two computers had shut off and sunken under the floor. The two girls stood up in unison.
"I believe you two shouldn't be in this classroom," Thriae explained.
"Of course we shouldn't," one girl replied curtly, clenching her fist at her side.
"You're wearing Sector K uniforms," Thriae pointed out.
"I told you this wasn't a Sector L uniform," the second girl whispered.
"Doesn't matter," the first girl said angrily. She waved her hand across her forehead. An oval gem materialized in the center of the girl's forehead, and tiny silver beads spread around her head. A similiar gem formed on the other girl's forehead. Their school uniforms melted away to leave revealing yellow and orange outfits. The girl in the orange outfit jumped on top of the nearest computer panel. She reached into the air and a fiery bow appeared in a burst of flames. Phobos pulled a burning arrow from the quiver on her back and aimed it at Thriae.
"The horsemen have requested that we terminate your lifeline, as the Corrupted Ones claimed to have done. I bow to you lady." Phobos bowed mockingly. "You have lived longer than expected." In one quick movement, she released the bowstring. The arrow sped towards Thriae's chest.
"Thriae!" Adrius cried, about to jump forward.
Suddenly, a pale brown whip struck the arrow. It shifted course and landed on the floor before Thriae's feet, the flames dying. Thriae leapt off the air seat to examine the arrow, but it vanished in a poof of red smoke. She looked around for the ship's owner. Standing in the doorway was a dark skinned senshi with short black hair and golden yellow eyes. She nodded her head towards Thriae and tied her whip around her waist.
"As the CyberNet guardian senshi, I will vanquish your evil ways," the senshi squeeked, "be prepared to taste the tip of my whip!" She walked over to Thriae, her heels clicking against the hard floor. The sudden silence which had fallen in the room was broken by some obscene whistles from the middle of the room. Thriae lifted her megaphone, taking a deep breath, but the senshi stopped her with a shake of her head. Thriae, puzzled, lowered the megaphone to her side. The senshi cracked her whip against the floor, startling everyone.
"You talk tough, senshi, but do you have the power to back up that mouth of yours?" Deimos asked with a smirk. "We are the elite Apocalypse mercenary fighters. When we have finished, your charred remains will serve as fuel for the sacred flames and your sould will be fed to the Apocalypse Master." Flaming wings sprout from both girls' backs, sending sparks in all directions.
"Everyone get down!" Thriae yelled, dropping the megaphone as she scrambled under Mrs Megaera's air seat. The sparks landed on open cell books, computers and interfaces. All burst into glowing red flames instantly. A girl near the back of the room whimpered. Thriae's computer beeped. She flipped open the top, her eyes immediately falling on the blinking symbol in the lower left corner. The screen fizzled as Rhea's face appeared.
"Minthe said there was trouble -" A small holographic projection of Rhea popped out of the screen, and she looked around. "Well, I see you're having fun."
"Rhea, I don't want to risk my identity by transforming, but I know my powers could easily put out those flames."
"Hold the fort," Rhea replied before her image faded. Thriae sighed and peeped at the battle. She was almost surprised that the automatic extinguisher hadn't switched on. 'Of course!' Thriae though. She typed sector coordinates into her computer and a grid map of the school flashed onto the screen. She magnified her current sector. The extinguishers had been shut down completely. She zoomed in on the extinguisher panel.
"They really knew what they were doing," she muttered, typing furiously, "but I should be able to use manual override." She halted as numbers scrolled across the screen. "Data, punch in code digits lines 6 and 32." The computer beeped several times as more numbers sped across the enlarged extinguisher panel. The panel switches flipped on, lights blinking. Thriae grinned as the foam-like substance of the automatic extinguishers flooded the room. Phobos and Deimos screamed as it landed on them.
"We'll be back, count on it!" Phobos cried before she and her sister vanished in two blasts of fire. Phoebe wiped her brow.
"What a workout. Everyone okay in here?" Slowly the students crawled out from under their computer panels. Several grumbled about the foam, most about the fire. Phoebe turned to Thriae. "Quick thinking. Nice job." She winked as a large lavender door appeared behind her. She turned, stepping through the open doorway, and vanished as well as the door. Adrius walked over to Thriae and hugged her with relief.
"Hey, Thriae," a student near the window called, "how're ya going to explain this this Mrs. Megaera?"
"That's for me to know, and for you to find out," Thriae answered with a giggle. The class burst into laughter.
