"Kind of hippie, kind of trippy, but with a definite modern edge, Butterfly Jones has delivered a debut cd loaded with memorable melodies, cool and insightful lyrics, and the slash and burn guitar of Michael Gurley. Gurley and fellow former dada member Phil Leavitt(along with a cast of.....well, OK, maybe a dozen or so) have crafted a set of songs that touch on a variety of musical styles and emotions. Love, hate, confusion, hope, rock, pop, grunge, it's all there, laced with an acid-tinged psychedelia straight out of the late 60's. Think of the Beatles with Jimi Hendrix on guitar locked in a studio with a drum machine and laying down some jams for the new millennium." The quote above is from a review of Napalm Springs that I posted on amazon.com. The cd has been in my boom box almost constantly since I got it two months ago. It is, to me, an amazing piece of music and the best cd I have heard in a long time. The lyrics are so cool I wanted everyone to be able to read them. I hope you enjoy them. My favorites are "Wonder", "Are We In Love Again" and "The Systematic Dumbing Down of Terry Constance Jones". Be sure to follow the links to some other cool Butterfly Jones sites...the Vanguard Records BFJ site, where you can download a free mp3 of the single, "Anywhere But Now", and my friend Laura's BFJ site. You can see some neat stuff there, like a set list from one of the first BFJ shows, and you can vote for your favorite BFJ song. You can also join the Butterfly Jones street team.
