Biography of Morteza Miraftabi, Editor in Chief

Morteza Miraftabi is a prominent Persian writer/poet who lives in exile in the United States. He has published numerous volumes of novels, short stories and collection of poems in Iran, some to be subsequently banned and burned in public. Since his arrival in the United States he has continued to publish his works both in Farsi and in English. He has published Simorgh, a monthly literary magazine in Persian for nearly 14 years in the United States as well.

Mr. Miraftabi is well known for the research he has done in the field of modern Persian literature. His lectures and commentaries on poets and writers of modern Iran frequently appears on Persian journals and radios. Mr. Miraftabi is a winner and joint winner of a number of literary honors in the United States.

Mr. Miraftabi's writings are noted for their sublime messages. The poetic tone of his prose is easily distinguished among other works of Persian novels and short stories. Some of his short stories had appeared in the "Chicago Review" and some like "Death of Michael Clemens" has won praise from readers and critiques for its grim look at the torment of " loneliness" in the modern America.
