I'M AT MY MOTHERS

Disclaimer: I do not own SeaQuest or it's characters. I'm just borrowing them for fun.

Please be warned: This story was depressing when I wrote it. Even more so now.

I wrote this during 2003 semester two SWOTVAC (27th of October to the 10th of November) when I was sick of studying.

Jonathan Ford smiled happily as he made his way towards the large bed inside the hotel room.

The UEO was holding another conference and as a result the crew had been granted shore leave. Despite the fact that the entire crew were sharing the same hotel, the Commander was looking forward to relaxing for a few days without worrying.

He dumped the rest of his luggage onto the bed, looking grimly at Tony’s bag, which was sitting in the corner. The only thing he was mildly disappointed about was the fact that he would have to share the hotel apartment with Piccolo, O’Neill and Lucas.

He sighed slightly and tried not to stiffen as he felt Lonnie come from behind him and put her arms around his waist. He wasn’t sure how much longer this relationship was going to last.

“Well, looks like we’ve got the place to ourselves for a little while,” she hinted seductively.

Ford gave a quick chuckle, her comment reminding him why he was glad that the other three guys would be sharing the room with him. He took a hold of her arms and turned around.

“Yeah.. well, we shouldn’t get too playful, they’ll be back soon.”

Not being put off, she inched closer, “Lucas has gone across town to visit his mother. He’ll be gone for ages.”

Ford backed off again, “But Tim and Tony will be back anytime,” he reminded her.

Before she could respond, Tony’s PAL began chirping from his bag which had been dumped next to the window.

Ford jumped at the opportunity to avoid a confrontation, “Oh.. I should probably get that.”

Lonnie was miffed, “That’s Tony’s PAL.”

Ford walked over to the bag as Lonnie put her hands on her hips, annoyed at his keenness to answer it.

“Yeah, well he’s not here. It might be important.”

Lonnie rolled her eyes, “Fine,” she turned around and stalked into the bathroom, “I don’t think it’s your business answering it anyway,” she called from in the bathroom.

Ford ignored her and picked up the phone, “Hello?” he asked.

The was silence on the other end for a few moments, and then, “C..Commander?” Lucas’ distinct voice was laced with something not quite right.

“Yeah, it’s me,” he responded, “Is that you, Lucas?”

“Wh..where’s Tony?” Lucas’ croaked. There was definitely something terribly wrong. Jonathan couldn’t place it: panic, horror, fear?

“Tony’s not here, he went out. Lucas, are you okay?”

The silence on the other end intensified the stress that Jonathan was already feeling. By now Lonnie had come out of the bathroom, having heard Jonathan’s words and was standing in the door frame watching worriedly.

Ford heard Lucas struggle with his words, “Uh.. I-I’m.. I..”

Ford tried to calm the distraught teenager, “Lucas, try to calm down. Tell me what’s wrong.”

In response, the lately unemotional nineteen year old began releasing terrified, semi high pitched sobs into the phone, “Oh, Oh my God, I.. I don’t know what to do.”

Jonathan began to make his way to the door, “Okay, I’m coming, where are you?”

“Uh… ninety four, sony parade.. I.. I’m at my mother’s..” Lucas sobbed.

“What’s wrong? Tell me what’s happened?” Jonathan was extremely concerned as to what situation he might be going into. Lucas had been held hostage on numerous occasions and had never panicked like this.

“I.. I came in.. and.. Sh..she’s in the bath tub..” Lucas gasped, “Oh.. my God..”

Jonathan pulled his jacket on awkwardly as he held the phone and began to dash out the door, “Alright, I’ll be right there.”

Lonnie followed him hurriedly, “Jonathan?” she asked, “Who is that?”

“It’s Lucas,” he told her, barely stealing her a glance as he reached for the handle.

The door opened for him, and Jonathan rushed straight into Tony and Tim, who were coming back from wherever they had been.

“Heeey,” Tony called, “What’s up with you, Commander?”

“It’s Lucas,” Jonathan told him, holding up the PAL, “He called you on the PAL. He’s at his mother’s. Something’s wrong.”

Tony looked at him worriedly and took the PAL, “Lucas?”

“We’ll come with you,” Tim told him, following Jonathan down the corridor.

Tony followed, talking into the PAL, “Hey, buddy, it’s okay, just calm down.”

Lonnie ran out of the room and stood in the doorway, not wanting to come out due to her usual choice in ridiculously skimpy clothing, “Hey, you’re all going?”

But the three of them had already jumped in the elevator. She stood down off her tippy toes, looking after them worriedly.

In the elevator, Tony was still talking to Lucas in the PAL, “Okay, Lucas just take deep breaths, okay?”

It wasn’t long before the three men reached the house that Lucas had told them about. Jonathan was first to bound up the painted white steps and bang on the door.

The door immediately swung open and hit the wall violently. The three men immediately covered their faces with the stench that rose up from inside the house.

“Lucas!” Jonathan called worriedly as he began to run through the house. Tony and Tim followed him, still holding the sleeves of their shirts over their noses.

Jonathan let his nose led the way into the large on-suit bedroom. The first room was a white bathroom. The owner of the house was obviously fairly well off.

In the bath tub, though, lay the corpse of a woman, obviously been dead a few days. The scene took Jonathan by shock and he reeled back, pushing Tony and Tim behind him so that they didn’t have to see. He backed out of the room, and took off in search of Lucas.

“Lucas!”

Typically, Tony and Tim went in to look anyway. Tony closed his eyes and turned away, but Tim had no problem letting out a gasp, “Oh my God.”

They both stood there for a few moments.

Ford rushed into the master bedroom the next door down and stopped. Lucas was sitting with his back against the wall, knees pulled up to his chest.

He was paler than Jonathan had ever seen him, and the fear and shock on his face was such that he resembled a small child.

Jonathan felt his heart break. How much more could Lucas take? He ran over and pulled Lucas toward him. The boy didn’t respond so he rubbed his back vigorously to let him know he was there. Lucas eventually returned the hug, slowly wrapping his arms around his Commander.

Tony arrived shortly after and stood at the door, watching Lucas. Tim knew that it would be his turn to comfort Lucas later, so he went off the take care of the necessities.
