1. The Letters Of Dr. Stow On Tobacco And Alcohol: By Dr. Stow. Dr. Stow addresses the "problem" of youth smoking when compared to the much larger and immediate problem of alcohol abuse. Because of the documentation and the arguments produced, these letters are compelling. After reading these letters, we wonder why the health establishment -- so eager to portray tobacco as the scourge of the century -- does not go back to its mandate, and considers its priorities from the health -- as opposed to political -- point of view.

2. Proposition 28: WE ARE THE PEOPLE! We are the California adults who choose to smoke... we are being robbed of $400 each every year to establish 58 new bureaucracies and 8000 more pigs at the public trough. We call it Reiner's Jackpot.

3. Tobacco Plant Information: The Green Web. Planting and raising tobacco, how to cure tobacco leaves, other non-smoking uses for tobacco, U.S. past and present tobacco policy.

4. Fund May Drop Tobacco Investments: By Jennifer Coleman. California's state treasurer, who oversees a multibillion-dollar portfolio, is continuing a moratorium on investments in tobacco securities and wants the State Teachers' Retirement System to follow suit.

5. Politics/Elections 2000: Snap. Candidate Videos and Information, Top Political Headlines, Political Parties, Polls, and more.

6. How To Pick The Perfect Pipe: By Richard Carleton Hacker. Indeed, buying a pipe is very much like purchasing a car. Or a suit of clothes. You don't just rush in and buy it. You ask for a brand name, something with a reputation. You inspect the craftsmanship. You search for quality. You don't mind paying a little more for workmanship, but neither do you want to get ripped off. And you want to make sure that it fits you and your lifestyle. These are exactly the same criteria that you use when buying a pipe.

7. Our Enemy, The State: by Albert J. Nock. His Classic Critique Distinguishing 'Government' from the 'STATE'.

8. We Are Everyday People:
*** Court Says No To Warrantless Entry: By Jon E. Dougherty. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has reinstated a civil rights lawsuit against a California child welfare employee and two sheriff's deputies who threatened a woman in order to gain access to her home without a search warrant.

*** Everyone's Got One: The web's hub of public opinion. Dedicated to the expression and exchange of opinions. Say what's on your mind. This is a place where you can SPEAK OUT and BE HEARD. Pick a category below and VOICE YOUR OPINION or RESPOND to someone else's.

*** A Good Book and a Good Cigar: By Michael Voth. When you realize that the things you most dreaded have already taken place, you adjust a little. Most folks, I hope, come to a libertarian perspective through more rational means than the one I encountered. But some of us just need an old bookseller like Mo, to remind us why we are here: Maybe we just like books and cigars.

*** Vaccine Information & Awareness: By Karin Schumacher. We Must Have The Freedom To Choose & Respect Everyone's Choice. Empowers parents to question, challenge, investigate, research and become more informed and aware about vaccine risks and dangers that exist. The major philosophy of VIA, however, is to ensure that Freedom of Choice is not taken away from each parent. The decision to vaccinate is one that should and must be made by the parent alone. (Click on vaccines to get anthrax information.)

*** FREE services & software to protect your privacy while online and offline: The Free Site. The Web is one place where it actually may be a good idea to be paranoid, because "they" may really be watching you. Many people surf around unaware that they might be leaving a trail of information about themselves scattered across the Net. Every time you visit a site, it's possible that you're leaving a trail of personal data. When you surf the Web, send E-mail or post to newsgroups, be sure to protect your privacy. The free services and freeware programs listed below will help you keep your privacy while online and offline.

And each individual has the choice, which no one has the right to supercede--even God does not!
Edgar Cayce

There are truths which are not for all men, nor for all times.
Voltaire Letter to Cardinal de Bernis, April 23, 1761.

It is the dawn of a new millenium, and while I don't want to forget the lessons of the past, I do want to face the new millenium facing forward not backwards.
Stephanie Plains
