Eclipse

The day starts out like any day
The sun shines at her best
The temperature is warm and sweet
A day just like the rest

A shadow creeps across the face
The moon comes out to play
To make a daytime showing he
Got in the sunshine's way

The sky takes on a darker tone
The birds all tuck their heads
The twilight in the noontime sun
Has fooled them to their beds

The sun thinks that is quite enough
Its her time to be shown
So she shows off a fiery ring
To let this fact be known

The moon decides that it is time
To go where he belongs
So he starts creeping off again
Humming evening songs

The sun shines brightly as before
The birds come back to play
Everything is as it was
On this clear springtime day
