Hanukkah
Many, many years ago
Greeks occupied the land
They came in force and claimed
it all
They felt their time at hand
A group of Jews called Maccabees
Decided all as one
To take up arms and fight the
Greeks
And send them on the run
The Maccabees had triumphed
Jerusalem reclaimed
The temple they’d rededicate
Give back its Holy name
There was not oil enough except
To last a single day
A miracle occurred for them
Eight days the flame would stay
Their dedication to their God
The memory of it stays
The miracle is honored
During Hanukkah days
