Pug
and Butterfly
A little
pug-nosed pup woke up
To start
a brand-new day
He stepped
outside, stretched and yawned
And made
his merry way
He walked
through dew-wet, new mown grass
Soon
drying from the sun
He romped
and rolled a little bit
Then
looked for some more fun
He came
upon a flowerbed
He sniffed
one with a sigh
But suddenly
the bloom rose up
It was
a butterfly
The butterfly
then led the pug
On quite
a merry chase
The pug
pursued her to and fro
A smile
upon his face
The butterfly
stopped for a bit
With
nothing else to say
She gave
the pug a little kiss
And quickly
flew away
