The Turtle
He walks along a grassy field
One bright and cheerful day
He takes his time and looks
around
At things along his way
His small green head looks
left, then right
Then forward, up and down
Some bits of grass and flowers
sit
On his head like a crown
As he continues on his way
With his home on his back
His feet step carefully along
His wide and grassy track
He knows that he has none
to fear
For if he has to hide
The turtle stops right where
he is
And tucks himself inside
When finally the fear is gone
He looks outside and then
He stretches out his head
and feet
He’s on his way again
