Are We Alike?

I don't like peas and carrots, but maybe you do
I don't believe some things I see
But maybe you think their true

I love a slow walk as the day begins
but maybe you'd rather run
you may like the midnight moon
but I just love the sun

You may like the color black
but purples' the color for me
you may like diamonds and pearls
but flowers and birds I like to see

You may like loud music
crowds and the city life
but I love my little yard
with no worries and no strife

You may simply hate the rain
as it falls upon the ground
but I love to hear it fall
it makes the most wonderful sound

You may like to watch T.V.
but a nice bood is my idea of fun
you may like to stay up late
But I love to sleep when the day is done

So although we're different
we're really still the same
in all the things we say and do
we live, we love, we laugh, we cry
and God sees no difference in me and you

Betty's 3Bs:  Border, Buttons & Bars
Ain't Bee's Whimsy Holidays

I awoke to the sweet smell of bluebonnets
this fine Saturday morn
Was more than just the aroma
twas lavender hues from which the flowers were born

I was aching to get away
take a long leisurely ride
o' re hill and dale
through the countryside

There were Indian paintbrushes
shades of orange and peach
soon it will be Spring
time for a trip to the beach

Indian blankets, showy pink primroses too
prickly pear cactus in full bloom
cool evenings to sit on the patio
and snuggle under the moon

Spring, the season of rebirth
seems all the critters are being born
birds chirping, mowers mowing
these sounds and sights
I woke up to on Saturday morn.

Sunlight filtering through oak trees large enough to hold you,
yet built to enfold you.
Sweltering heat rising from the bubbling blacktop; popping like pop corn in a  vat of oil.
Tender feet hopping on one leg to get to the other side.
Sweet breezes blowing through the tall pines along the dusty road that leads to home. Tadpoles swimming in the water left from the morning rain;
cooling your dusty feet and making them whole again.
A cattle guard to skip across, a flattened rock picked up to toss.
A rope swing stirring in the noon day sun;  waiting for children, waiting for fun.
An old collie dog born with no tail, slowly making his way up the trail.
A whippoorwill's  call in the evening air, daddy coming home;
we'll all be there.
Supper time comes around a table of grace nothing fancy, no trim or lace.
Heads bent, folded hands, praying for rain from the promised land.
Crickets chirp, fire flies fly, kiss good night, feather beds to lie.
Another day as the one before; aging
wishing for just one more.
