Fifteen-year-old Jelena Dokic set up a potential third
round clash with second-seeded defending champion
Martina Hingis with a hard fought win over gutsy
American Kristina Brandi in the second round of the
Australian Open on Thursday.

Dokic hit 43 winners, including 24 off the forehand side
Dokic won 15 of 18 net approaches
Dokic committed 46 unforced errors to Brandi's 16
Match time: one hour, 23 minutes
Dokic is on a five-match winning streak since losing to
Amanda Coetzer in the first round of the Hyundai Hopman
Cup
If Hingis gets past qualifier Elena Dementieva, Dokic
will have the advantage of playing someone she practised
with during the Hyundai Hopman Cup
Dokic has beaten four top 100 players so far in 1999 (the
others being Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, Sandrine Testud and
Asa Carlsson)
Dokic is currently without a world ranking, having only
played two senior events in the past 12 months (with a
