TVR 2500

History:

According to TVRCC (TVR Car Club), my TVR (2353T) is an interesting and rare hybrid. It was built on the 4th of June, 1972 and shipped to the USA. It has the original Lagoon Blue exterior and black interior. However, the original engine has been replaced with another TR6 unit with triple webers.

The car itself is a Vixen/Tuscan bodied 2500 fitted to an 'M' series chassis (one of 96). The 'M' Series chassis (a much superior design) was introduced with chassis number 2240TM in April 1972 and used for all subsequent cars. Because of the need to maintain sales while developing and introducing the new body style, TVR still offered the Vixen series of cars fitted with either the Ford 1600cc or Triumph 2500cc engines, but never actually changed any model designations. Most people refer to the 1600cc version as a Vixen S4, but for some reason the Triumph engined cars remained just as a 2500, to distinguish it from the M Series bodied cars as 2500M. The overwhelming majority of 2500 and 2500M cars went to the USA. This is deemed the best Vixen type car as it is certainly a good deal lighter than a 2500M.

More information on the 2500 model can be found at http://www.gspovey.demon.co.uk/garage/tvr/models/vix25.htm.

Year Owner Notes
June 4th, 1972 Made and shipped to USA - source is Mervyn Larner, Model Registrar, TVR Car Club Ltd, UK;

The car was factory order #72/1419 and was probably brought in and labeled by the US importer as a 1971 model to circumvent the new 1972 emission laws. Apparently, this was done frequently - source TVR Car Club North America (TVRCC NA);

Tom Broughall, ID Title record search in Idaho shows that car was purchased by Tom in September 1986 in Broomfield, Colorado and re-registered in Pocatello, Idaho in 1989.

Mileage on Idaho title reads 60,680 and actual. Membership of Tom found on TVRCC NA. Had triple webers even then.
