SPINAL NEWS

THESE GO TO ELEVEN.

News

Ok kiddies, here is the run down of what is happening in the SPINAL PAP camp.

Bobby Anderson will be moving from the Nigel Tufnel part of the band to the David St. Hubbins role. When offered the part, he jumped up and down like an idiot for 18 minutes, and than said yes.

Edgar Murga and James Brower will remain in their respective positions in the band.

SPINAL PAP is currently holding auditions for the Nigel Tufnel character of the band, and is still seeking a "Have a good time, all the time," keyboardist.

SPINAL PAP is at this very moment lobbying in Washington D.C. to have the following birthdays made national holidays.
Christopher Guest (nigel tufnel) -- Feb 5th
Rob Reiner (marty debergi) -- March 6th
Michael McKean (david st. hubbins)-- Oct 17th
Harry Shearer (derek smalls)-- Dec 23rd

If our demands are not met... We shall continue to tour bars along the east coast, polluting the eyes, ears, and fragile little minds of anyone who witnessess our unique brand of torture.

Some things to look forward to are...

1) A stronger and more exotic stage show.
2) Even more songs in our repitoir.
3) The return of our demon-eyed, smoke breathing skull "SIMON."

...plus much much more.

Until then...
EAT...SLEEP...  AND BLEED HEAVY METAL ! ! !

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

Nigel explaining his one of a kind amplifier.

Nigel : The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the
board, eleven, eleven, eleven and -
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel : Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel : Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see,
most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're    on ten here all the way up, all the way up, all the way
up, you're on ten on your guitar.
Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.

Nigel : Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra
push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel : Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the
top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel : [Pause] These go to eleven.

Spinal Pap

When a tribute band is trying to come up with a name for themselves, most of 'em pick a song by the band they are paying tribute to, and use that as their name.
But not us, we thought we'd be original... So we stole the name from a scene from 'This Is Spinal Tap.'
Spinal Pap was on the sign that Tommy the Limo Driver was holding up when he was looking for the band at the airport at the start of the film.
But you already knew that...didn't you.

Check out "THIS IS SPINAL TAP" before you come to see our magnificant band play. Viewing this legendary movie will enhance your enjoyment of our performance.  It will lead to total self-conciousness, inner peace, make you feel warm and snuggly inside, and also make you feel like a better person all around.

Hard Rock Cafe - 80's Heavy Metal Album, Forward by Spinal Tap

Heavy Metal...Why "heavy"? Why "metal"?
The music that stirs our Dark Sleves (...Dark's elves?...)  existed long before our feeble attempt to define it in puny modern English.
Before it had a "name"...
It thundered down from black skies into lifeless
     seas.
It came spewing from the volcano at Pompeii.
It howled in the dungeons of the Inquisition.
It threw back its head and laughed at the antics
     of Charlie Chaplin.
It has always been ever with us.
     And ever shall be.
It was only when rock 'n' roll came along (Nov. 1954) that we "humans" had an interface with all this Nameless Cosmic Energy (NCE) and an opportunity for some bright lad to come up with the designation Heavy Metal.
Some reject the phrase as too limiting;  some reject the clothing as too confining;  many refused to comment.
But admit it -- isn't there one track you put on really loud when you're the only one home?  And isn't that just the best?

Good old NCE, that's all.  We call it Heavy Metal now, but that's just a name...
