Srilanka
is a beutiful little country. We went there much to the chagrin of our family and friends. We however stuck to areas considered
relatively safer - Colombo, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.
Colombo is
a shoppers' paradise and the bargains you get there are just incredible! You can walk away with the nest of labels for a fraction
of what it would cost anywhere in the Western world; even cheaper than what we pay for in India.
Kandy is
a beautiful hill station and a visit to the temple of tooth relic is a must see. Strangely we found it difficult to find decent
vegetarian and Indian food in Srilanka..you gotta watch out if you are a veggie !
If Nuwara
Eliya is heaven, then hotel Tea Factory, a converted hotel on top of the hills is paradise ! The view from there are spectacular
and the hospitality is excellent. Every night they have a show at the restaurant where waiters wear scary costumes and the
lights are dimmed - exciting stuff with song & dance in all that !
After climbing
the hills it was time to come down and relax at - where else - but the beach ? The waters are a bit choppy and one has to
be careful - but hey, lazing around in a beach resort is so much fun - who cares if the waters are a bit choppy ?
