KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM - The Most Awaited Movie!

RANI MUKHERJEE IS THE SURPRISE PACKET IN 'KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM

Rani Mukherjee is putting in an appearance in Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. The director wanted to keep this a secret, but the cat was let out of the bag inadvertently during a press conference for the music release of the film. Karan, however, denied rumors that Abhishek Bachchan had a role in the film.

Karan's last film, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', had created a record in terms of music sales. According to Mr. Vijay Singh, Managing Director, Sony Music (that made its debut in Hindi film music by releasing the music of this film), they had notched up sales of 2 million copies worldwide, of which 700,000 were accounted for by Indonesia. This he said was an indication of the growing market for Hindi film music abroad. Now that Rani Mukherjee's presence in the film stands revealed, what role does she play in the film, Karan was asked. "She has a very important role in the first half of the film. She plays a kind of cameo. When I approached her, she never asked about the length of the role. As she had been a part of my last film, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', she had no hesitation in taking up this role."

It was widely believed that Jatin-Lalit would be composing the music for 'Kabhi Khushi', but now it turns out that there is a surprise packet even there, with Aadesh Shrivastava and Sandesh Shandilya also sharing the credit lines. What is the reason for this? Were Jatin and Lalit not up to expectations? "No, it is not like that," says Karan. "When I signed Jatin-Lalit, I made it very clear to them that it is not going to be one composer's film. I needed a bhangra number for the film, and with Aadesh having done some fabulous bhangra songs in the past, I roped in him for the film. Sandesh was taken on because I needed some techno and western kind of music. I had heard Sandesh's compositions and found them very vibrant. I, therefore, requisitioned his services as well. Sandesh shares the credit line for the music with Jatin-Lalit whereas Aaadesh is the guest composer of the film."

Karan, it may be recalled, is a multifaceted personality. He assisted friend Aditya Chopra with the latter's directorial debut, 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge'. He has also worked as a fashion designer and designed the costumes for 'Dil To Pagal Hai' and 'Mohabattein'. His debut film as a director, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', fetched him a number of prestigious awards for direction, screenplay and dialogue. Slated for a December release, 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' is chockablock with superstars. It also marks the 'comeback' of Kajol, who paired Shah Rukh in many silver jubilee films like 'Baazigar', 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' and 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'.

Sony Music to releases the flavour of KKKG music

It has the most potent blend of talent on this side of Atlantic. KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM has giants for actors. Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor have come together in this Karan Johar venture which has been slated as the most awaited film of this century. The ace director had delivered the blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in his debut foray.

Probably, never again, will such a melange of talent ever come together in one single flick. The music is keenly awaited with advanced bookings from dealers in huge quantities.

Sony Music has bagged the rights to its music at a phenomenal price. Sony Music is coming out with a first flavor of the music on a single cassette. It is expected to be priced at around Rs.30 (60cents) and expected to hit the stores around 26 August. The title track itself will be rendered in four different versions in the cassette.

Lata Mangeshar croons the full version of the festive title song, created by the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai team of lyricist, Sameer and composer duo Jatin Lalit on Side A of the cassette.

Side B starts with Lata Mangeshkar rendering a sad version of the title song followed by Sonu Nigam doing another sad version. The album ends on a high note with an instrumental version - aptly titled "THE SOUL OF K3G" - composed by Sandesh Shandilya.

Hrithik only after the interval

Does Hrithik Roshan make an entry in KABHI KHUSHI KABHI GHAM only after the interval? That's what a section of the press wants people to believe. But it's far from the truth, says producer Yash Johar. "Hrithik has an extensive role in the first half as well," he tells me, continuing in the same vein, "But in the post-interval portions, the role is much more challenging as a performer. In fact, all the three stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan have equal footage."

Meanwhile, the first two theatrical trailers of the film have already been censored and will be released in cinema halls across

More on Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham

The multi starrer Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham starring Shahrukh, Amitabh Bachchan. Hrithik, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor has been voted as the most awaited film. (on VLuvShahrukh.com Poll). Hrithik and Shahrukh play brothers & Amitabh is their "cool" dad. With specially crafted sets the film is heavily banking on the cast. Karan on contrary says "I had a family film in mind and I was thinking of a cool dad and two sons who would complement each other physically and luckily for me I have a dream cast." Karan whose debut film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai created box-office history in 1998 claims he doesn't need stars to sell his film. The film releasing soon is perhaps going to bring some change in the depressing sales of current Bollywood films.

Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham to release in December

The much awaited film is now half complete. We got information that the movie is going to release on December 14th. So Karan Johar, the director has to complete  the job in another 7 months! Well...his job becomes easier with all the top actors in Bollywood on the film's cast - Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. Well the film brings the most wanted film pair -SRK and Kajol together once again after a long break! Well we all hope KKKG is another blockbuster from Karan Johar!

Big B - Shah Rukh in one film.

If Mohabbatein was the first film that brought the Big B and Shah Rukh Khan together, Karan Johar's magnum opus Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum goes one step further. Come Diwali, Bachchan and Shah Rukh will be seen dancing together for the first time on the big screen, to a bhangra tune scored by Aadesh Shrivastava.

For the uninitiated, Karan's relationships bonanza on celluloid stars Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor, besides the superstar duo. Though Karan began the project with just Jatin-Lalit as the music directors, Sandesh Shandilya was roped in to do a bhajan soon after his tryst with success in the superhit Piya Basanti, and Shrivastava was called upon for the peppy bhangra track soon after.

Farah Khan is all gung-ho about the dance number. But all you Hrithik fans need not worry. That Hrithik is Farah's favourite star since the Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai days is old news. She has actually choreographed a song in KKKG as a tribute to Duggu's dancing talent. The item number had Johar flying in dancers from London to "recreate" the atmosphere of a London nightclub.
