TO:	VARSITY CROSS COUNTRY CANDIDATES
FROM: COACHING STAFF


The following constitute the Varsity Letter requirements 
for Cross Country:

A.	Attendance must prove to be NOT LESS THAN 90% of the Season's 
Practice Days, including both "excused" and "unexcused" absences.
   AND
B.	Place among either the top seven(7) team-mates in not less than 
one-half of the total Varsity Dual Meet Competitions, OR place
    among the top (10) ten in not less than (2/3) two-thirds of the
    same meets.  Whenever Junior-Varsity may compete against an   	
    opponent's Varsity, the meet then counts as a Varsity     
    competition.

OR

C.	Displace in the scoring among the top (5) five of any competitors 
in either a scheduled Invitational or Championship Final(s)Varsity 
Meet(WPIAL,PIAA,IPSL or PISCC).

AND

D.	Demonstrate on/off Campus compliance with all Training rules as 
required by the Academy through formal publication, AS TO INCLUDE 
Sportsmanlike Conduct at ALL TIMES, EITHER AS A PARTICIPANT, or
AS A SPECTATOR.           
   AND

E.	Participation in ALL SCHEDULED NEETS, unless proven "excused" by 
the APPROPRIATE AUTHORITY , either prior to, or subsequent to 
all meets.  EACH PARTICIPANT must make a conscious effort to 
NOTIFY HIS/HER COACH of an "ANTICIPATED" absence PRIOR EACH MEET 
IN QUESTION.

Unsuccessful compliance, and/or fulfillment of the 
above requirements should be interpreted as 
sufficient reason NOT TO RECEIVE A VARSITY LETTER.

AIJ, VARSITY LETTER AWARDS ARE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL 
by the appropriate Coach(es) and by the Director of 
Athletics as an integral part of the process.

Long-Term, NON LETTER WINNERS shall be subject to 
an all-coaches' review on a case-by-case basis, as 
to either EFFORT and/or IMPROVEMENT throughout his/ 
her SSA Cross Country Career for Varsity Letter 
Awards.

Please do not hesitate to contact your coach, should any 
questions arise as to the above during the course of the 
season;a mid-season review would prove advisable between your 
Coach and You.

I acknowledge, understand and agree to comply with the above 
requirements as may prove necessary to receive a VARSITY LETTER
