SSA has two coaches, Mr. McConnell and Mr. Ejzak. Mr. McConnell
is known as Mac. He has been coaching as long as anyone can remember.
Mac is also a popular teacher of advanced French. Mr. Ejzak is sometimes
affectionately called "Scooter," by students, but this is not advised because
it annoys him quite a lot. Mr. Ejzak is a graduate of Shady Side Academy, (Mac Pack '88)
and more recently of Northwestern University. He taught at the Culver military school in
Indiana before becoming an English teacher at SSA. He plans to stay a long time. Maybe as long as Mac.
He is well known for his hearty and distinctive laugh. Mac has me, Dickinson, Brandon, and Follansbee as
advisees this year. His desk is inscribed with the names of most team members from the past.
Ms. Whitney is the captain of the girls team. She is marreid to the Central Catholic coach. His name
is Tim McVeigh, which is awkward because the alleged Oklahoma City Federal Building bomber has the same name.
She is a math teacher. Frau Burgbacher, the German teacher is the other coach for the girls. She is a German teacher.
Mr. Ejzak grades way too hard. He gave Matt Hall a B+ for his first midterm this year. That was the first non-A that Matt
has recieved on any grade in English since 7th grade. He is also the reason that I am going to Penn State.
For two years after running at Northwestern, he coached the
NCAA Division I Nationally ranked #2 wildcats for 3 years before coming to Shady Side to study under the master, Mac.
Tron is the manager emeritus. He is the man.
