| This page has lots of stuff that I use and have done to my computer to make my life better. You will find some fun programs, tutorials on how to change your Mac (screw pc's, get a Mac!!). Some of the more advanced (and cooler) stuff will require ResEdit (download link is below). To download ResEdit and read some very good pointers for using it, please read this page from ResExcellence, the best ResEdit site on the net!! Here's a brief summary on ResEdit: Have you ever wondered how to change command keys, startup screens (for applications and when you start up your Mac), and basically everything that makes the Mac so great? Have you ever wanted to show your Winblows usin' buddies up with your awesome Mac? Then get ResEdit, practice on some files, and then completely customize your Mac to your liking!! Ask anyone on the staff, they'll tell you how much time I spend Anime-izing my Mac.
Some of these hacks require some extra work to use correctly. Some of them are needed to help you download faster, others are needed to do real hacking. - Stuffit/Aladdin Expander
- Mac files will be stuffed (.sit). So download Stuffit/Aladdin Expander 5.0+ from Aladdin Systems. Which is FREE to Mac, Windows, Linux, and (MS-)DOS users.
- 8Tuner
- Mac OS 8.0 to 8.6 users need this for some advanced functions easily. This is a very safe way to edit MOSS's, folder icons, menu commands, and other things. This program is not compatible with Mac OS 9.x+ or anything less than OS 8. It is $18 US shareware (You can use it as long as you like without paying, but be a good user and pay!!)
- 9Tuner **OS 9.x+**
- This is the upgraded version of 8Tuner for use with Mac OS 9's new file system. It's $20 US shareware because there's a little more work for the program to do, but not for you. This too works fine without registering, but you'll be breaking the law then so... do you what you want... Just don't blame me, I warned you.
- ResEdit
- If you really want to customize your Mac, you need this program. All the basic and advanced edits can be done using this program. However, Apple no longer has any tech support for this program, and it is HIGHLY use at your own risk. It is compatible with almost all Mac OS's, since system 6.0.2 and runs fine on mine running 9.0.4.
MOSS's (MacOS Startup Screens, Mac OS 7.5+)Here's some ways to change that smiley "Welcome to MacOS" splash screen whenever you boot up your Mac. There's two ways to change it. There's the advanced way using ResEdit, and then there's the safer way using 8Tuner/9Tuner from DragonOne. Each file will have a tutorial on how to set-up the downloaded file(s). These two so far were both made by me. If you wish to use them on your site or, for some ungodly reason, want to put it on a CD set; please keep all the associated files together and email me so I know where they're going. These MOSS's are free to everyone, if you paid for these, then something is hideously wrong. | Dragon Ball & Neon Genesis Evangelion MOSS Download (359 KB, Instructions Included): For ResEdit For 8/9Tuner | | Gokou & Gohan MOSS Download (183 KB, Instructions Included): For ResEdit For 8/9Tuner | |
Sound Sets (Mac OS 8.5+)Think that the default Platnium sounds aren't as cool as they could be? If you use OS 8.5 or up you can change them easily using ResEdit and a progrom that converts sound files into System 7 Sounds, or you can do it the easy way and just download a set such as these. Note: Most of these don't have installation instructions. Use these instructions to install the sound sets. - Final Fantasy Soundset 1.0 - 260 KB, Instuctions included
- Make your Mac sound like FFVII & FFVIII!!
- iMac Sounset V1.1 - 400 KB
- This sound set is a bunch of sounds from other sound sets and other random sounds all smashed together into one sound set. Instructions not included.
- Jedi SoundSet - 516 KB
- For those Star Wars fans, instructions not included.
- Silver Sounds - 452 KB, Budget Instructions included
- Just a bunch of weird and neat sounds.
- Warcraft Sounds - 148 KB
- Lots of fun WarCraft sounds. Instuctions not included.
MiscellaneousThis stuff is just random stuff until there's enough of it to need its own section. New Control Strip icons. This will change the appearance of the Control Strip with a more metallic look. I think it's neat, but that could be because I made it.
