Featuring antique and contemporary quilts by Ste. Genevieve's finest quiltmakers. During this very special weekend there will be displays, demonstrations of quilting techniques, and hundreds of quilts on sale.

Jour de Fete 5K and 1 Mile Runs
A Run Through History In Missouri's Oldest Town - the 15th annual Jour De Fete 5K/1 mile races held in conjunction with Ste. Genevieve's summer celebration of the same name. The 5K is a challenging course featuring "Max" (Maxwell Hill) at about the 2.2 mile mark. 5K starts at 8 a.m. and the 1 mile at 8:40 a.m. at the Pere Marquette Park Swimming Pool. T-Shirts to first 150 entrants, souvenir key ring to all entrants, attendance prizes. Register by mail or on race day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. $10.00 registration fee (includes T-shirt) for 5K. Free registration for 1 mile - $10.00 if T-shirt is desired. The King's Ball
Dance the night away French Colonial style as the town recreates a 250 year old tradition with period costumes, music and fun. A king and queen will be crowned.

The Felix Valle State Historic Site hosts a birthday party to honor the man for whom the house was named. Tours, entertainment and refreshments.

The Felix Valle State Historic Site opens its doors to visitors for a special, free event. Enjoy candlelight tours and charming entertainment.

Independence Day
Fireworks, free entertainment and an old-fashioned concert in the park highlight the town's traditional Independence Day celebration.

County Fair
Exhibits, entertainment, rides, games, livestock shows, equestrian events, demolition derby, tractor pull, turtle derby and greased pig chase are all part of the fun-not to mention the chance to play cow chip lotto.

Bastille Days
Ste. Genevieve mounts its own celebration of the turning point of the French Revolution. Visitors can join in the storming of the town's historic hoosegow and hear a stirring reading of the Rights of Man, or have photos taken at the local guillotine. French movies, candlelight tours, French cuisine and an art show round out the weekend.

The midwest's biggest and best arts and crafts and entertainment festival is now in its 31st year, with even more of the attractions and events for which it has become famous. Featuring over 600 vendors, first-class entertainment, and fine food.

Classic Cruisers Car Show
The seventh annual Classic Cruisers Car Show will be held on the grounds of the Knights of Columbus Hall at 6th & Market Streets in Ste. Genevieve. Goody bags and dash plaques to the first 150 entries. Thirty-five classes with three awards per class. Food, beer and soda available by the Knights of Columbus. Dinner also available in air-conditioned hall. Registration from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., judging from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. and awards presentation at 3:30 p.m. Participant registration $9.00. Fall Harvest Fest
Ste. Genevieve offers a dramatic balloon lift-off, music, food, entertainment, crafts, demonstrations of colonial harvest crafts, and other special events.

 

 
December 5-6, 1998
Country Christmas Walk
Featuring Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, a Christmas parade, carolers, live nativity scene, old-fashioned tree-lighting ceremony, and shops stuffed with stocking stuffers and elegant gifts. The Les Petitis Chanteurs, a group of charming local children dressed in period costumes, will be singing during the Christmas Walk. On Sunday afternoon the Ste. Genevieve Wind Ensemble, Choir and Bell Ringers will perform traditional and non-traditional Christmas music at the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church. The musical program is open to the public free of charge.

An Old French Christmas
The Felix Valle State Historic Site hosts an old-fashioned French Christmas featuring customs of the early 19th century. The free candlelight event is a delightful evocation of Christmas long-past and sure to provide some extraordinary holiday memories.
