Until Nov 1997, we did not know anything about Mary Egan since the 1860's. All we knew is that she married Peter Mathews and they went to the USA. We also thought they only had one daughter. Mary had died while writing an undated  letter back to Australia to a distant great relative of mine. It was sent un-finished. We wrongly assumed it was sent in the 1860's where in fact, it was 1910. The letter had been handed down over the years through that family and was sadly lost during a move of house about ten years ago. Anyway, a descendant of Mary Egan, Jacki Barber, contacted my Dad's Unofficial Egan Home Page. It was only through the internet, that we made contact, which by any other means would of been very unlikely. She lives in the USA and we live in Australia.
