The Caravaggio String Quartet (Sonya Williams and Heather Badke, violins, Leanne Rabesa, viola, and Kasia Bielak-Hoops, cello) was formed in the Fall of 2000 at the Eastman School of Music, although several of the members had been playing together in various combinations since 1996, most recently the (poorly named) Quartetto Incognito, pictured here during their 1999 tour of Kentucky in a New Performing Arts educational residency (with 2nd violin Emi Takahashi). To read about their travels, check out the May/June 2000 edition of Strings Magazine - you'll see this picture there:
and also the Aegean Quartet, with violinists Karen and Elena Hirsu, pictured here in master class with the Colorado Quartet, also in 1999:
They are active in outreach programs for school children and recently made a second tour of Kentucky, visiting Casey, Green, McCreary, and Harlan Counties, and are currently studying chamber music with the Ying Quartet. Other coaches of individual members include the Colorado, Cavani, Portland, Lydian, and Anderson Quartets, and they have played in master classes for members of the Guarneri, Orion, Coull, Muir, Tokyo and Vermeer Quartets and Beaux Arts Trio.
