I drew this for an art exchange sponsored by the goons of Something Awful. We were supposed to send prints of our art (and some extra postage stamps) to the organizer, who will then send us everyone else's art. Whatever we made and printed was due by June 20th 2003, right when Fanime 2003 started. Needless to say I was stressed for time. I'm still amazed at the results.
Why is this 2.0 you ask? For a senior project in my Living and Dying course, we had to give our impressions of Death. So I drew the Grim Reaper (v1.0) as a female with wings, to emphasize that Death isn't something we should fear. It was a horrible drawing, so I tried drawing her again using a then new watercolor set I bought (v1.5). I used too many colors, and her skin turned out yellow 0.o" "Death v1.5" was quickly stored away in one of my many file cabinets to never be seen by human eyes again. When I was sketching this picture (v2.0), I didn't know what to do with her right arm/hand. I was initially going to make her a medieval Joan of Arc type character. I made her weapon a staff, then finally a scythe. I ended up trashing the medieval warrior and redesigning my female Death character.
I'm really proud of the wings, especially when I inked this one out. My scanner again failed to show the various shades of gray and black that I worked so hard to color. My white paint touch ups came out a little bright, but at least people know where her shoulder ends.
I still have 4 extra prints available. All are maked by me with a "2.0", showing that they are the second edition prints. All are also resigned by me complete with the address of Studio_Oro.
