Burning Tips to add to the life of your candles:

  1. Burn at least one hour for each inch of diameter. The flame needs time to soften and melt the wax on the outer edge.

  2. If you burn a 3 inch diameter candle for less than three hours at a time it will bore a hole right down the middle.

  3. Always keep the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch. Too much wick will smoke. Before you light it, pinch the excess wick off.

  4. NEVER leave a burning candle unattended.

  5. Always place a candle on a wax catching base.

  6. Draft and candles don't mix. Rotate the candle occasionally. There is always some air movement in a room. Rotating will ensure an even melt.

  7. Keep candles out of direct sunlight. It can fade colors and cause an irregular melt.

  8. Warmer wax melts faster than cooler wax. Candles refrigerated before using will burn more slowly and evenly. Wrap in foil or plastic before refrigeration to prevent wicks from absorbing moisture.

  9. Votive candle holders will clean easily if you add 1/8" of water to the glass before inserting the candle.

Candle Safety

Whenever you have a lit candle, please take these precautionary measures.

NEVER LEAVE A BURNING CANDLE UNATTENDED!

  1. Always burn candles on a heat resistant surface. Candle holders may become hot and damage furniture. A good heat resistant surface can be made from a ceramic tile (cover bottom with felt to protect furniture).

  2. Keep all burning candles away from children and pets.

  3. Position candles away from flammable objects.

  4. Place freestanding candles in a shallow dish or bowl to catch the wax in case of a blowout.
