The Character Section
Bekka
Bekka is the main character. She's about 15 years old and in high school. She's pretty smart, and says that she has no time for a boyfriend because of all her schoolwork. That's really more of an excuse to get her slightly boy-crazy best friend Kiara to stop teasing her all the time, though. She's a nice person who tries to see the good side of everyone, which makes her a little naive at times.
I like Bekka. She's about the last person in the world who would get mixed up with Corinn and Jarith, and I think she handles being dragged off into outer space pretty well. She's a very strong person, which you don't see much of yet but will become more apparent in later chapters, which I haven't written yet. Wow, that was a long sentence. ^^
Kiara
Kiara is Bekka's slightly boy-crazy best friend. She is only mentioned once, and doesn't play a very big part. She teases Bekka about liking Corinn.
Kiara's only purpose is to show that, yes, there are more than three people in the entire known universe. And to tease Bekka, of course. She might show up again later, but probably not unless the story takes a turn that I haven't even thought of.
Jarith
Jarith represents the forces of Light. He gets angry really easily, and Corinn likes to tease him and watch him completely overreact. He's totally clueless about Bekka at first. He's mad at Corinn for getting her involved, but he just ignores Bekka when he has to "drag her along" on his search for Corinn.
One of the things I think is interesting about Jarith is that he's supposed to be the "good guy" but at first, Bekka really doesn't like him. Also, his temper isn't the sort of thing you'd associate with the "Guardian of the Light." (He hates being called that, by the way)
Corinn
Corinn represents the forces of Darkness. He's arrogant, doesn't seem to care much about Bekka's welfare in the beginning, and he's mean to Jarith. However, he really does care for Bekka, and he is sort of justified in his anger with Jarith--Corinn basically controlled the universe until Jarith came along.
Hmmm..what can I say about Corinn? Well, I do kind of feel sorry for him...but that's because of something I haven't written yet. He's so calm, it's kind of funny, especially when Jarith's yelling at him in chapter one, and Corinn's just standing there, totally calm.
Arysta
Arysta is a member of the Guild of Shadows, a group of people who want the universe to stay the way it is. They don't want darkness or light to win, because either way it would be a major--possibly disasterous--change. Arysta herself believes that their best chance is to get darkness and light to stop fighting and live happily ever after. Since Bekka is the best chance in a few billion years to get either darkness or light to think about something other than killing each other, Arysta has sort of appointed herself as Bekka's bodyguard. As a member of the Guild of Shadows, Arysta can use their collective "magical" power. She tends to use the power for physical things, like creating a shield, rather than for affecting people's minds.
Arysta's cool. I like her. Maybe for no other reason than that she's blue. And she's a nice person. That's always important.
Kieriyu
Kieriyu is a member of the Guild of Shadows, like Arysta--but unlike Arysta, he's one of the people who think that they'd all be a lot better off if Darkness and Light were both permanently dead. Kieriyu believes that the ends justify the means, so he's not particularly worried if he has to threaten people to get his way. As a member of the Guild of Shadows, he can call on their collective "power," just like Arysta. He is better at using power to affect people's minds: for example, instead of making a shield out of power, he could make someone think that he was surrounded by some kind of impenetrable force field.
Kieriyu's a jerk. He's just really not a nice person. But he's fun to write. Evil people usually are, for some reason. He has a tail, but you can't see it in this picture...I think I forgot about it...-_-;;
