I love this layout. It's very cool, and I think it's really professional-ish looking. It took suprisingly little time, too. Here is a full, "un-lyric-ed" version of the image I used.

The lyrics are from the song "No Such Thing" by John Mayer, which I recently heard on the radio and liked immediately, mostly because of the line "I just found out there's no such thing as the real world." Here are the lyrics in full:

Artist : John Mayer
Song : No Such Thing
Album : No Such Thing, Room For Squares

"welcome to the real world"
she said to me condescendingly
"take a seat, take your life
plot it out in black and white"
well I never lived the dreams of the prom kings
and the drama queens
I'd like to think the best of me
is still hiding up my sleeve

they love to tell you "stay inside the lines"
but something's better on the other side

I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

so the good boys and girls take the so-called right track
faded white hats grabbing credits, maybe transfers
they read all the books but they can't find the answers
all of our parents, they're getting older
I wonder if they've wished for anything better
while in their memories, tiny tragedies

they love to tell you "stay inside the lines"
but something's better on the other side

I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

I am invincible
I am invincible
I am invincible
as long as I'm alive

I want to run through the halls of my high school
I want to scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
just a lie you've got to rise above

I just can't wait for my ten year reunion
I'm gonna bust down the double doors
and when I stand on these tables before you
you will know what all this time was for

This picture is supposed to be kind of energetic-looking, with the spirit of rushing at life and all. I'm terrible at putting this kind of thing into words... ^^;; The rather messy coloring is also intentional, sort of my way of not "staying inside the lines," and the girl is supposed to be breaking of the black and white background, or not "plotting her life out in black and white." And the wings? They're wings, what more do I need to say?

This layout also marks a few firsts: The first time I've done frames for two different resolutions, and the first time I ever used image rollovers (the red buttons). It's surprisingly easy.

The girl may or may not be Rhiannon from a manga that I'm thinking about, tentatively titled "Spiral Dance." The colors are all right, but Rhi doesn't have wings, and never will, and I can't really see her wearing that either. She doesn't like being called "Rhi" either. :P If you look closely, you'll notice that her ears are pointed. ^_^ I like elves.

"Spiral Dance," if I ever draw it, will not be started for a few years, or at least until I'm in college. See, one of the main characters is a college student, and never having been a college student, I can hardly write about that, can I? The entire idea, however, is based solely on the idea that I think that "Rhiannon" is an extremely spiffy name. And I like elves!
