1. "Pilot"
Series Premiere. A meteor shower rains destruction on the small town of Smallville, Kansas. Twelve years later, a young Clark Kent learns his true origins from his protective foster parents. As he struggles to make sense of his identity, and his superhuman body, he falls into an unstable friendship with a young Lex Luthor.

2. "Metamorphosis"
Clark discovers that a fellow high school student having been attacked by kryptonite-affected bugs, has taken on the "eat, molt, mate, die" life cycle of an insect with Lana as his prey. Clark must rush to save her without revealing his superpowers. Meanwhile, Lex holds Lana's kryptonite necklace in his possession and ponders what to make of the strange stone.

3. "Hothead"
Fathers and sons come to a standoff as Clark joins the football team despite his father's wishes, ultimately discovering the coach has been altered by kryptonite and is using his fire-starter abilities to hurt anyone who gets in his way of winning. Lex, meanwhile, goes saber to saber with his father over the control of LuthorCorp.

4. "X-Ray"
Clark battles intense headaches as he tries to adjust to his emerging power of X-ray vision, an ability that he cannot control. Also, Lex is framed for an armed robbery by a teenage girl who can take on the appearance of anyone she chooses. Elsewhere, Lana finds her mother's journal and accuses her aunt of lying to her.

5. "Cool"
Clark has a chance at an evening out on the town with Lana thanks to Lex's matchmaking, but the evening is interrupted when Clark faces an icy enemy: the high school lady killer who has a kryptonite-induced case of permanent hypothermia and has to feed off of body heat to survive - starting with Chloe.

6. "Hourglass"
Clark is rocked by haunting visions when he meets an old woman who can see the future, while a scheming Lex uses the seer's gift to glimpse his own destiny and learn more about Clark's secret. Meanwhile, a bitter old man discovers a "fountain of youth," and once restored to his teenage self, seeks revenge on jurors who decades ago put him in jail for murder.

7. "Craving"
Clark must save Pete from literally being devoured by a female classmate whose crash diet of kryptonite-infected vegetables causes her to shed weight faster than she can handle and must somehow satisfy her ravenous hunger. Meanwhile, Lex gets one step closer to the truth about Clark after funding a study on the green meteor fragments.

8. "Jitters"
Earl Jenkins, an old friend of the Kents, comes to Smallville seeking help. Earl was a farm hand on the Kents' farm for several years before taking a job as a janitor at LuthorCorp in Metropolis. While there he came across an experiment where corn was sprayed with a fertilizer that, when mice would eat the corn, they'd get shaky and jittery. Now Earl has this affliction.

9. "Rogue"
Clark's secret identity is at stake when a bad cop witnesses him use his superhuman powers and coerces Clark to join forces with him; however, when Clark double-crosses the cop, he is not prepared to deal with the consequences for him and his family. Meanwhile, Lex receives an intriguing proposal from an old British flame.

10. "Shimmer"
A teen girl's obsession with Lex turns life-threatening when invisible attacks in Luthor Mansion pits Clark against an undetectable enemy. Meanwhile, Clark is thrilled when Lana looks to him for companionship after Whitney inexplicably pushes her away.

11. "Hug"
Clark is stunned when a pesticide magnate who has kryptonite-enhanced powers of persuasion somehow convinces Jonathan to sell the family farm to make way for a new plant. Clark teams up with the local hermit whose mysterious past holds the key to the town's future.

12. "Leech"
When Clark rescues his classmate Eric from harm during an electrical storm, they are both struck by lightning, resulting in all of Clark's superpowers transferring to Eric. Clark is torn between happiness at finally being normal and growing concern as Eric starts to abuse his powers. Meanwhile, Lex believes he finally has undeniable proof of Clark's superpowers and confronts him.

13. "Kinetic"
Clark and Lex are stumped when the Luthor mansion is robbed by burglars who seem to have the ability to walk through walls. Lex's curiosity turns to desperation when he discovers the thieves have stolen evidence of his secret project and Clark wonders if his dad was right about Lex's deceit all along.

Lex faces the consequences of his shady dealings in Metropolis years ago when an old enemy comes to Smallville intent on destroying his life, ultimately putting Clark and Lana in harm's way. Meanwhile, Clark has his hands full as he tries not only to protect Lex from the past, but also keep Chloe out of his after she discovers a mystery surrounding his adoption.

15. "Nicodemus"
Clark must solve the riddle of the mysterious Nicodemus flower and Lex's shady involvement after it infects the residents of Smallville removing their inhibitions - Jonathan (John Schneider) becomes a couch potato, Lana puts the moves on Clark as the town Lolita and Pete tries to kill Lex - then puts them into a deadly coma.

16. "Stray"
After Martha accidentally hits a young boy with her car, the Kents take him in until they can locate his parents, unaware that the boy can read minds which puts Clark's secret in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Lex must decide if he wants to take his father up on his job offer.

Clark must stop a kryptonite-infected man who seeks to relieve the suffering of the elderly and sick by turning them into ashes - and Whitney's ailing father may be his next victim. Meanwhile, Lex is furious after his father sends someone to look into LuthorCorp's financial records and this man reveals Lex's secret investigation into Clark and his family.

Clark sees the election for class president as an opportunity to be a "normal kid," but when his running mates are systematically attacked by a swarm of bees, Clark suspects a candidate is eliminating the competition one by one and he is next on the list.

Clark faces an unexpected foe when a gifted art student returns to school after a hit-and-run accident robbed him of the use of his hands but gave him the gift of telekinesis. Meanwhile, Lana becomes jealous after watching Clark with Chloe and begins to question her relationship with Whitney.

Clark and Lana race against time to find a kidnapped Chloe after a kryptonite explosion gives Lana the ability to "see" through the kidnapper's eyes and she watches Chloe being buried alive. Meanwhile, Lex discovers evidence that a spaceship landed in Smallville during the meteor shower.

21. "Tempest"
Clark finds the missing piece of the spaceship as Nixon continues investigating the Kents despite Lex's orders and finds the truth. Lex decides to counter his father's plans to shut down the fertilizer plant, whilst a tornado hits the town and its damage will effect everyone - especially Lana.

Season Two
1. "Vortex"
After Clark rescues Lana from the eye of the storm, he discovers the storm's wrath has unleashed the spaceship into the fields and buried his father alive along with the unscrupulous reporter who has discovered Clark's secret. Meanwhile, Lex is wracked with guilt over his father.

2. "Heat"
Clark goes into hiding after he discovers a startling new power that accidentally harms Lana. However, a new teacher uses kryptonite-enhanced pheromones to convince Lex to marry her then spellbinds Jonathan, so Clark must get control to stop them killing each other.

3. "Duplicity"
After one of Clark's friends discover the spaceship in the cornfield, Clark goes against his parents wishes and reveals his secret, but is shocked when the reaction he gets makes him question his friend's loyalty.

The school unknowingly uses red kryptonite in the class rings and its effect on Clark stuns everyone as he turns into a rebellious teenager who decides to use his powers for evil instead of good. Lana finds herself drawn to the "new" Clark who declares his love for her.

5. "Nocturne"
Clark discovers someone has been leaving love notes for Lana at her parents' grave, whilst she follows the stranger to his home and discovers his parents keep him locked in chains. Clark and Lana break into the house to save him, but realize why he was locked up.

6. "Redux"
Martha goes to her estranged father for financial help. Clark is thrilled at the prospect of meeting his grandfather but Jonathan's refusal to see the man prompts Clark to force a reunion. Lana discovers an old photograph that suggests her father may still be alive.

7. "Lineage"
A mysterious woman shows up claiming to be Clark's mother, prompting the Kents to tell Clark what happened after they discovered him in the cornfield that fateful day. Clark discovers why his father hates the Luthor, how his adoption was fixed, and who really rescued Lex from death.

8. "Ryan"
Clark pushes his abilities to the limit to save his telepathic young friend Ryan from an evil doctor who wants to control the boy's abilities. Meanwhile, Nell tells Lana they are moving to Metropolis.

When Clark tries to warn Lana and Chloe about Ian, an overachieving student who is surreptitiously dating both girls, they realize too late that he was right. Meanwhile Lex loses his temper, landing him in an anger management class where he meets an interesting new woman.

10. "Skinwalkers"
Clark falls into a cave and discovers two hidden treasures - ancient Indian writings that hold the key to his identity, and a beautiful girl whom he believes to be his soulmate. Desperate to preserve the writings, Clark enlists Lex's help to stop Lionel from demolishing the cave.

11. "Visage"
Whitney returns home from the Marines looking to rekindle his relationship with Lana but his suspicious behavior prompts Clark to question his true motives. Lex becomes suspicious of his new girlfriend after he discovers a questionable photo of her with Lionel.

When Lionel is shot, Jonathan is arrested, but after Clark and Pete perform their own crime scene investigation, they realize that more than one person had the opportunity to kill Lionel - including Lex. Meanwhile, Lana is suspicious after she asks her father to take on Jonathan's case and he declines for mysterious reason.

After Lex discovers that Lionel installed cameras in the mansion, he hires some thugs to bug Lionel's office, but things get out of control when Lionel and Martha surprise the thugs and are taken hostage. Clark must figure out a way to save his mother without exposing his powers.

14. "Rush"
A strange parasite invades Pete's body and feeds on the teen's adrenal glands, causing him to shake off his inhibitions and engage in wild and dangerous behavior. Meanwhile, Clark gathers his courage and asks Lana for a date, which she eagerly accepts.

15. "Prodigal"
When Lex finds his long-lost brother Lucas, he brings him home in the hope that the two of them can unite against Lionel. A dangerous situation ensues, however, leaving Lex to wonder whom he can really trust. Clark decides to take a job at the Talon.

Clark rushes to find an antidote after Martha is infected with a toxic virus and falls into a coma, but when Clark also falls ill, it is up to Jonathan to find a cure in time. To further complicate things, Dr. Bryce demands an explanation from Jonathan when he refuses to let her treat Clark.

17. "Rosetta"
Determined to find out where he came from, Clark travels to New York to meet Dr. Swann (Christopher Reeve), a brilliant scientist who holds a message for Clark from Krypton. Lana decides to move out of Chloe's house after the two girls get into another argument about Clark.

Clark's new schoolmate uses heat-vision to prove that he's an alien, but Clark suspects he's not from his own planet - but from Krypton, instead. Meanwhile, Helen asks Lex some hard questions.

After Lana is almost assaulted, Clark loses control and injures the boy - leaving the Kents open t be sued for punitive damages that could cost them the farm. Helen's ex-boyfriend arrives in town and stabs her, prompting Lex to take the law into his own hand.

Clark stumbles upon a robbery of a LuthorCorp truck carrying kryptonite and is stunned to realize he can't stop the thieves because they are as strong as he is. To keep Clark from going to the police, the thugs attack Jonathan and Martha.

After Lana is visited by the ghost of a childhood friend, she turns to Clark for help but he realizes the little girl is actually a kryptonite-enhanced clone, he rushes to save Lana before the revenge-seeking child harms her. Lex uncovers Lionel is responsible for the clone research.

Dr. Walden wakes up from his coma and tells Lex & Lionel that Clark is an alien and must be destroyed. Meanwhile, a romantic encounter between Clark and Lana hints at a promising future.

1. "Exile"
Under the influence of red kryptonite, Clark is following a life of crime in Metropolis while his friends and parents desperately try to find him. Lex is forced to confront his personal demons on a desert island, while Lionel holds a funeral for his presumed-dead son.

2. "Phoenix"
After Jor-El grants Jonathan temporary superpowers, he and Clark engage in a destructive battle atop the LuthorCorp building. Meanwhile, Lex returns home and must determine whether it was Lionel or Helen who arranged his plane crash.

Clark discovers someone is hunting people affected by the kryptonite rocks and the killer's next target is Lex. Clark uses his powers to save Lex, but is caught off guard when the killer learns his weakness and shoots him with a kryptonite bullet.

Clark dreams he is being pursued by a frightened young girl who needs his help. However, after he discovers she is actually a comatose neighbor, he enlists Lana's help to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, Lionel demands that Lex undergo a full psychological evaluation.

5. "Perry"
Perry White (Michael McKean), a once-promising journalist whose career was destroyed by Lionel Luthor, arrives in Smallville in search of alien stories for a tabloid news show. In spite of being constantly inebriated, Perry devises a dangerous scheme to expose Clark.

6. "Relic"
Lana's great uncle shows her an image of the man who really killed her aunt, and is shocked when its revealed the drifter looks like Clark. Clark's investigation leads him to a kryptonian medallion that allows him to see the life Jor-El started for him before he arrived on Earth.

7. "Magnetic"
Lana suddenly becomes attracted to a fellow student and begins to act rebelliously. Clark learns this 'boyfriend' has magnetic powers that can move objects and alter human emotions, but when he tries to free Lana from the paranormal hold that is controlling her, she tries to kill him.

8. "Shattered"
Lex locates Morgan Edge (Patrick Bergin) and gets him to admit to dirty dealings with Lionel. Barely surviving an assassination attempt, Lex flees and asks Clark for help. Lionel tells Clark that Lex has had a psychotic break and must be institutionalized.

9. "Asylum"
Lex plans his escape from the mental institution by teaming up with three krypto-villians to lure Clark to the hospital. The villains double-cross Lex and use kryptonite to steal Clark's powers. Meanwhile, Lana meets a mysterious new stranger named Adam (Ian Somerhalder).

10. "Whisper"
Attempting to stop a robbery, Clark is temporarily blinded when he shoots off a burst of heat vision that is accidentally reflected back into his eyes and soon realizes his body has developed super-hearing to compensate for his lack of sight. However, this power takes getting used to.

Whilst Chloe meets with the reluctant Daily Planet reporter Max Taylor and tries breaking into her files whilst Lex's new secretary tries digging up the document that froze on his computer.

Clark discovers that his schoolmate Jordan can foresee the future, but is horrified when Jordan tells him he "sees" Lana dying in a fire in the next few days. Meanwhile, suspicious of his behavior, Chloe investigates Adam’s background and discovers some disturbing news.

After Pete purposely blows a street race, the thugs that run it threaten his life, so he asks Clark to use his powers to stop them. Furious that Pete would put himself in this position, Clark must figure out a way to save him. Meanwhile, Jonathan begins to suffer the consequences of his deal with Jor-El.

Clark is forced to use his powers in front of a new girl at school, but he is surprised to find out she has powers of her own. The two develop a bond through their shared secret, but things turn ugly after she becomes obsessive. Meanwhile, Lana asks Lex to investigate Adam.

While his father is awaiting surgery, Clark befriends a young boy, Garrett, whose brother Vince just died. However, everyone is shocked when Vince shows up at the hospital alive but ill yet again. In a desperate attempt to keep him alive, Garrett straps a Kryptonite bomb to himself.

Clark receives a panicked call from Lana and hears a gunshot before the line goes dead, but when he arrives at the Talon he is stunned to discover she is alive and well. Clark realizes the phone call came from the next day and that Adam is the one who will shoot Lana.

As Lionel Luthor closes in on Clark Kent's secret, he approaches Dr. Swann (Christopher Reeve) for information. Concerned for Clark's safety, Dr. Swann warns him that Lionel is getting closer to the truth.

When Chloe accidentally inhales a mysterious krypto-gas, she discovers it acts as a truth serum to anyone who comes in contact with her and decides to take advantage of her new power by going to the Kents to find out Clark’s secret. However, her new power has fatal consequences.

Lex undergoes a series of experimental procedures with Dr. Garner to try and retrieve the memories he lost while he was delusional. Elsewhere, Lana is accepted to art school in Paris, but she has to find a way to pay for it.

When a Kiwatche Indian steals a mythic knife from the caves, he is bestowed with superpowers similar to Clark’s, causing the young man to believe he is the legendary Naman. Clark learns the Kiwatche legend foretold of a knife that could kill Naman and sets out to reclaim it.

21. "Forsaken"
Clark decides to tell Lana his secret so they can finally be together. An errant FBI agent (Gary Hudson) kidnaps and tortures Pete to try and force him to reveal Clark's secret. Lex panics after the FBI gives him 24 hours to turn over information on his father, but unexpected help arrives.

Kara (Adrianne Palicki), a beautiful girl with superpowers who claims to be from Krypton, comes to entice Clark to fulfill his destiny and forces Jonathan to reveal the deal he made with Jor-El. Also, Clark makes a discovery that ultimately redefines his relationship with Lex & Lana.

1. "Crusade"
Heading to Smallville to investigate the death of her coursin Chloe from several months earlier, Lois Lane comes upon a dazed and confused naked man by the name of Clark Kent. At the same time someone emerges from a hidden spot in Egypt, someone that can fly.

2. "Gone"
Learning that Chloe's body is not in her grave, Clark is forced to turn to Lex to help find out what happened to her. Lana returns from Paris and Lex discovers his condition may be permanent. Lois' father arrives in town.

An ugly girl undergoes plastic surgery, however kryptonite traces in her IV have left with a beautiful face but one which will disfigure others if she kisses them. A young man named Jason Teague keeps a watch over Lana who's undergoing a tattoo removal.

Lois & Lana become friends whilst Clark finds himself having to protect Jason from a revenge-fuelled high school student.

5. "Run"
A young man named Bart Allen saves Jonathan Kent from a car accident, only to steal his wallet. In pursuit Clark discovers the boy can move like a 'Flash' at hyperspeed and ends up befriending him.

6. "Transference"
Lionel meets a man named Edgar who has figured out the key to body transference based on the Kryptonian symbols and using a stone artifact. Lionel's goal is apparently to switch bodies with Lex, but for some reason the transfer instead switches him with Clark.

7. "Jinx"
A foreign exchange student named Mikail Mxyzptlk is brought over to the States by Lionel Luthor before his prison stint because Lionel found him to be "interesting". The man uses his powers to try and manipulate Clark and his stint on the football team.

8. "Spell"
Magic comes to Smallville for the second week in a row, in a story dating back to a time when three young women were accused of witchcraft in 1604. The three women somehow have a tie to Lana, Chloe, and Lois today, who seem to have taken on their behavior.

9. "Bound"
After Lex is accused of killing a young woman, Clark sets out to prove his innocence. Lionel offers Clark insight but asks for something in return. Lana has a flashback of the incident in Paris, leading her to suspect Jason's mother (Jane Seymour) knows how she got her tattoo.

10. "Scare"
A toxin finds its way into residents of Smallville including Jason - the poison causes an increased sense of paranoia and panic until their heart gives out. As one by one people succumb to it, Clark rushes to find a cure. Lionel is released from prison against his will.

Clark's would-be stalker Alicia is released from the asylum by her doctor and seems to be "cured." She wears a lead bracelet so she cannot teleport, although Clark later breaks it off for her and the two seemingly end up getting romantic together.

Lana and Jason are attacked and almost killed by an unseen assailant and Alicia seems to be the prime suspect. Clark defends his new girlfriend, but when evidence begins to pile up he is forced to rethink. Jason's mother returns to town with an offer for Lex.

In an effort to recruit Clark for their football team, Met U sends their star player Geoff to show Clark the "perks". However, after one of Met U's players dies and Lois is arrested for murder, Clark discovers Geoff is using super powers to paralyze anyone who gets in his way.

Months ago Luthor Corp sponsored experiments that injected Kryptonite serum into three dogs. Now, two brothers have control of the canines and are using them to pull off petty crimes.

Clark and Lana follow Jason and Lex in the hopes of finding the mysterious kryptonian crystals first. Clark must battle Isobel, the witch, who has once again inhabited Lana's body in order to take the crystal for herself.
