Background/History:
A very troubled and trouble making child, Floyd was put on medication and in
therapy for most of his childhood. The only thing he showed any real interest in
was clowns. As he grew, he settled down and straightened up into a normal high
school student. The only trace of his past was his affection for clowns, he even
got work performing as a clown for hire. His normalcy continued in to his
college life where he met Melissa Crowley, who after a whirlwind courtship
married him. To make ends meet as a young married couple of college students,
Floyd joined up with a local carny as a clown for extra income. The carnival
troop was losing money, so the owner decided to burn the circus to the ground
for the insurance money. Melissa came to see him on the night of the blaze to
tell him that she was going to have their child, but fate had other plans. While
the two stood in the wings hugging and happy, the fire burst to life behind
them, a wall of flame slamming them through the air. She had her back to the
blast and took the brunt of it. Floyd was badly singed, but not very injured. As
the tent came burning down around them, he held her until she died in his arms.
He knew he couldn’t get her out, so he left her there. Somehow he managed to
get out and ran away into the night, his sanity in tatters. Discovering that he
was thought to have died with his wife, lost in his dementia, Floyd decided that
he had perished in the fire and became Slapstick, the evil clown. He took the
trappings and gadgets that a clown uses for amusement and perverted them into
tools of fear and death. His first victim was the carny owner who had done a
poor job of disguising his arson. His inventive designs brought him to the
attention of Dr. Manto who recruited him for Injustice.
Personality/Motivation:
His sole motivation in life is making his gadgets. Spending all his time working
on ideas for mayhem keeps him from facing reality and working with Injustice
supplies him with money, equipment, and test subjects aplenty.
