Welcome to Heechee Heaven
This site is dedicated to the Gateway saga of Frederik Pohl, an outstanding concept of a future where you can become a "stored" person living in gigaspace and your best friend is a computer program known as "Albert Einstein".
Where an asteroid, tunnelled-out several millenia ago by advanced aliens called the "Heechee" left a flotilla of spacecraft capable of FTL (faster than light).
The catch being that no one understands how to operate any of the controls except the "GO" control which takes the prospectors on a possibly fatal or hopefully rewarding trip somewhere in the Galaxy.
Robinette Broadhead, the hero of the series, is forced to confront the worst alien imaginable: Himself.

I am developing this page because I have found virtually nothing about Pohl's work on the Web. I feel this a great disservice to an extremely talented and prophetic writer. Therefore I propose to correct this situation. Please feel free to let me know if you share my fascination with Pohl's writings or if you have any information to share.
