Although this particular Butlins no longer exists it was a great fun place to visit when you were a kid. This Butlins, as I recall, had the largest amount of rides for kiddies than any other. That's if the weather wasn't too cold and they were working. One thing I do remember about this place though is that it was cold! My Gran lives up in Scotland so we have visited Ayr itself many times since and all I can say about the place is that it reminds of of one of those traditional seaside towns like Blackpool but without the sleaze. Fish and chip shops aplenty with indoor markets and arcades for those who aren't daring enough to brave the cold harsh winds outside.
