Asking for Permission to Build

Our students became all excited with the idea of building a Brazilian space. There are about 75 students in all (3 classes of 3ème) and when polling the ideas, all were very creative but it took us some time to reach a consensus...so finally we all agreed Viva must have a club, which is a frequent facility here in Sao Paulo and other Brazilian cities. It's where people meet on weekends, where they practise sports and participate in events.
Please forgive us if we seem "spacious", but Brazil is a HUGE country and we're used to lots of room...;-)
So our idea would be to have a nice piece of land, not very far from the centre nor from the residential area. The club, as we imagined it, would have a main building, in Brazilian colonial style, with several rooms. The rooms chosen were:
- a music room, where people could discuss music, listen to it and work on different lyrics.
- a folklore room where people from different cultures could tell the others what the myths, tales, superstitions and folkloric events in their countries are and also play games.
- a happening room, where special events could be scheduled (like fashion shows, a carnival parade,a photograph or painting exhibition, etc...)
- the restaurant, where people would have lunch and dinner and exchange recipes or talk about typical food.
The restaurant would have French doors opening out to a deck on which we could have little tables and parasols so as to eat out, when it's warm and sunny. Next to it, a swimming pool ,where people could sunbathe and talk about their holidays.
The outdoor area of the club would contain a soccer field and a tennis court where people could talk about sports in general and play matches.
Further back, we would have Amazonia Park, where people could go for a stroll...see different plants and animals and talk about global issues like for instance the threat to the environment, animal extinction, pollution, etc.
This coming weekend groups of students are going to draw and describe how they see each of these so we can send the whole structure to you.
We hope Copabacana Club is given a green light. We are sure you will enjoy it!
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Bee
