Keeper of Infinite Earths - Lords of Liberty

Mystery Man

Alter Ego: Mark Dent
Occupation: Sports Reporter
Known Relatives: Royal Family of Ultra
Base of Operations: New York, European Theatre WW2, Intergalactic

Background/History:
Found wandering around in a field in Iowa as an infant, Mark Dent was adopted by a small Christian church.  Too young to speak and with no way to track his parents, the Reverend Dent gave him his name and the church raised him with solid moral values.  He was very intelligent and quite strong.  As he grew, he was almost painfully aware of the fact that he was different.  In addition to the fact that he had appeared out of the blue, he was stronger and tougher than any of the other children and he concealed his abilities so as not to seem any more odd.  He had a normal education, but had an uncontrollable urge to travel, to seek his true origins.  On the way, he became a super-hero.  When saving children from a burning orphanage, he was asked how he could fly and such and he responded quite honestly, "It's a mystery to me.".  Referred to as "the Mystery Man who saved the orphans" and inspired by All American, he donned mask and costume and began building a reputation that eventually led to his being made a charter member of the Lords of Liberty by FDR himself.  But for all of his good deeds, he never found a single clue to his origins or his powers.  Then in 1953,  he was sent a message from deep space, a message from his father explaining that he had been transported to Earth to keep him safe from TEC.  TEC would have wanted the child for a
host body, so they sent him to Earth light years away in the hope that he would grow up strong and safe until the day he could return home.  So, he left to help battle TEC and meet his family on the world of his birth.

Personality/Motivation:
Raised with a strong moral and religious background, Mystery Man simply never thought of any other use for his abilities than helping others and to preserve life.  His feelings of uniqueness also seem to have made him seek the anonymity of a secret identity to maintain at least a facade of normalcy and acceptance by those around him.

Quote: "You can stop this now or I will.  It's up to you."
