Background/History:
A simple farm boy, Wilhelm grew up and prospered due to hard work and his single
minded determination to be the best at whatever he chose to do. When the Nazi
regime spread the false pride and superiority of the German people, he was
hooked and signed up as fast as he could. He was one of the best soldiers due to
the fact that no task was too daunting or loathsome for him. He was to head to
officer training and greatness in the Reich, until fate intervened. The troop
transfer truck he and his trainees were on had a flat tire. Wilhelm volunteered
to change it, the jack slipped, and his right arm was crushed. Thinking the tire
had been changed, the driver put the truck in gear and rolled back over Dietrich’s
legs. Medical help was useless, the only choice was amputation. Instead of
taking him to a hospital, he was sent to the laboratory of Dr. Schmit to be used
as experimental waste. Schmit used his strange ability to design robotics and
turned Wilhelm into a half-man, half-machine. A lesser man would never have
stood the pain, much less the seemingly endless hours of training to learn to
use the mechanical limbs, but Wilhelm persevered for the glory of the
Fatherland. In addition to enhanced strength and flight, Schmit tinkers with his
creation’s capability adding a flame thrower or an electrical shock whenever
an idea strikes him. For his effort and hard work, Dietrich was awarded the Iron
Cross and made an officer in the Super SS. The irony not wasted on him, he took
his codename from his medal.
Personality/Motivations:
The nearly psychotic drive for perfection and excellence that made Dietrich a
model soldier was the only thing that allowed him to survive his injuries and
his operations. His years of farm work and animal handling helped him figure out
how to handle Harpy and he thinks of her like a pet bird of prey. The constant
pain he is in makes him very short and easily angered, but only toward his
opposition.
