Background/History:
The child who would be known as Boulder was a poor Southern boy growing up in a
large family. Once he reached his teens and had grown too large for them to
feed, he was kicked out into the world. He had to do odd jobs and scrape to
survive, eventually falling in the wrong crowd. Due to his size, he got the
nickname "Pigman" and embarked on a life of crime. He was soon
arrested and was offered the chance to volunteer for an experiment that
increased his strength and natural defenses to super-human levels. He
intentionally under-performed in his strength tests, fearing that if they
realized how powerful he really was that he would never be set free. He kept his
nose clean and was paroled early for his participation in the experiment. On the
outside, he was contacted by Dr. Morris Manto of Injustice who had stolen the
test results and felt that Nabob might be hiding something. Manto blackmailed
Pigman into joining Injustice by threatening to expose him to the authorities
for his deception, something that would surely cause his parole to be revoked.
He may have been a small time thief and grifter, but he had no desire to be a
murderous super-villain. During a robbery, Nabob decided to abandon the group,
setting off the alarms in his wake to get them captured, and he planned to just
lay low for awhile. Unfortunately for him, they escaped and were none too
pleased with his betrayal. They tracked him down and a battle ensued that
attracted the attention of Mixitilion, his robot Mex, and Amorphus. Together
with Pigman, they beat Injustice and, thanks to Mixatillion’s ties with the
government, kept him from going back to prison. They formed Destructor Force and
he changed his name to Boulder. He stayed with the team, became a bodyguard to
Walter Penwright Jr., and helped found Freak Town where he lives today.
Personality/Motivations:
Boulder is a typically gruff, big guy with a short temper and a big heart.
Destructor Force supplies him with a purpose in life and the family that he was
denied in his youth.
