Background/History:
Brian was a good student with an adventurous streak. He was always trying
something new and exciting, like bungee jumping and rock climbing. He took up
hang gliding and loved to go up high, sometimes dangerously high. The Hero Club
was advised that an object was heading toward the earth and the T.E.C.ian
Warrior recognized it’s energy signature as a T.E.C. device, so Starflyer
headed out to intercept it. He got to it just as it entered the atmosphere and
when he approached it, it self-destructed. A burst of strange alien energies
radiated out and Starflyer was stunned. Brian saw the flash in the sky and
glided toward it. He was bathed in the strange radiation and blacked out.
Fortunately, Starflyer had regained his senses and saw the hang glider flying
erratically. Brian was charged with a strange bio-electrical field and, for a
time, wore a containment suit designed by Stunner to protect others. He worked
very hard to gain control over the energy and became able to fire concentrated
blasts. He discovered that he could transform into a totally energy form and
back, as well. Brian took the name Ion and joined the group. He became involved
with Hot Shot and the two are currently engaged.
Personality/Motivations
After his freak accident and the short time he spent fearing life in the suit,
Brian became very serious about what he should do with his life. Taking risks
just for kicks lost it’s attraction for him. Putting his life on the line to
make a difference and to save innocents became the only thrill he needed.
