Easter Aquhorthies

Easter AquhorthiesHow to get there: On the A96 at Inverurie, at the last roundabout (heading away from Aberdeen) The circle is signposted.  Follow this road for about 2 miles to the second car park.  From there is is about a 400m walk up a gentle hill to the circle.

Description: Easter Aquhorthies is one of the best preserved examples of this type of stone circle.  The diameter is just under 20m, and is predominantly grey and pink granite.  Standing in the centre of the circle, facing the recumbent, the third stone to the left is of jasper.  Whether this is significant is unkown, but I have noticed this anomoly also at Balgorkar.  It may only be coincidence.
