NEW WARRIORS

They're among the first team-based OverPower character cards. Monumental introduced this concept, and brought along the New Warriors for the ride. They're packin' heat, too (read: Firestar). If you've ever read an issue of this teen team's comic, and we hope you have, then you know that their powers vary. They're an all-around good team, and have a huge variety of abilities and skills. Read on for the low-down on the team.

NEW WARRIORS <MN> 6-6-5-5
(Draw 2 Cards from Draw Pile when KO'd. Keep Duplicates.)

Like we said, they're a well-rounded team. At least a five in everything, and they have 6s in both Energy and Fighting. Your opponent will regret offing this teen team when you have at least a 2 card advantage over 'em. Also, when your opponent's playing with a Battlesite, they sure don't want their Avalon's Master of Magnetism to be discarded, so they'll fear the power of Nova. They may also underestimate the power of the mutant known as Firestar, so be ready to surprise as well as anger your opponent. OK, on to the Specials.

FIRESTAR (LQ) <MN> [OPD]
Acts as a level 4 Energy attack. If successful, may make 1 additionalEnergy attack against same Character. Additional attack may notbe defended.

Ha. Now this we like. OK, so it's only a 4. And it's in Energy, which they pack a 6 in on their grid. But wait... This card holds much power. Step 1: Place Angelica Jones on your New Warriors hero card. Step 2: Wait until you're 100% sure that it's gonna hit. Step 3: Use that Energy power card that's in your hand to slip by your opponent's defense, which should pretty much piss 'em off. Have a nice day!

JUSTICE (AG) <MN>
Avoid 1 attack

Avoid. Put at least 2 of Mr. I-Don't-Think-I'm-Good-Enough-To-Be-An-Avenger here in your deck. 'Nuff Said.

KYMAERA (AA) <MN>
Acts as a level 4 Fighting attack. May make 1 additional attack.

No. No way, no how, nuh-uh. No. Unless you're a die-hard Namorita / Kymaera fan, leave this one alone.

NIGHT THRASHER (HF) <MN>
Acts as a level 4 Intellect or Strength attack.

Eh, why not. Yeah, it's only a level 4, but it contains not 1, but 2 icons! Plus, Night Thrasher is just plain cool. He's had enough limited series to prove it, too. Go ahead and toss one in, but don't expect it to win you the game. It's just one of those things that ya need.

NOVA (LA) <MN> [OPD]
Target Battlesite must discard 1 Placed card chosen at random.

Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha! But wait! This is almost better than Blue Beetle. Make your opponent wish that they had used Any Characters when Richard Rider busts on to the scene. If you're lucky, you might just make 'em discard their site's OPD. How cool is that?! Very cool. No matter how many mistakes Nova has made already in his new series which will end around issue 6 or 7, you can't go wrong with this Special.

SPEEDBALL (LC) <MN>
Acts as a level 4 Strength attack against Target Character, or a level 8 Any-Power attack against Target Battlesite.

Geez, we're sick of seeing ToyFare bash poor Robbie Baldwin (Just a side note... Don't worry about it). Yeah, we all know that any sane person doesn't attack Battlesites. So just forget that the 8 is even there. Focus on the 4. Personally, our advice is to leave this one out of your deck and toss in another Night Thrasher. He'll go either Strength OR Intellect, remember, which makes Robbie nigh-useless.

TURBO (JW) <CL>
Acts as a level 3 Energy attack. May make 1 additional Power card attack. Neither attack may be defended with a Special card.

Um, OK, this ends the New Warriors section of our Hero Reviews page. Please continue reading to see--Oh--We didn't do Turbo yet, did we? Don't worry about it. The only strategy involved with this card is remembering how you used Black Knight in your cheese deck. Same rules apply.

THE CONCRETE JUNGLE <MN>
The Concrete Jungle Team's Universe: Training cards are an additional +1 to attack, +2 to defense.

Definitely a Fighting-based team here. Daredevil, Punisher, Silver Sable, Kingpin, Serpent Society, & the kids. Don't even look at the Inherent, 'cause NOBODY uses Trainings unless they're severely (and we mean SEVERELY) messed up. What the heck? You don't even need this Home Base. Any combo is legal anyway. Might as well use Omniverse and hope the extra 1 helps. But as a Battlesite, this one has potential. Play around with it and see what ya come up with.

Final Analysis
The New Warriors have a new series! But that doesn't mean jack to their OverPower performance. Both Nova & Firestar are feared throughout the OP World, and with good reason. Battlesites are everywhere, and with the New Warriors, Rich Rider is ready to rough up your opponent. This well-rounded team can be a force to be reckoned with.
