To Whom It May Concern:

This is an open letter of recommendation for James Bryant to all prospective employers.

James had been employed at Sure Shot since January 15, 1999 until his resignation in August of this year. I regret the loss of this excellent engineer but respect his desire to move on to new horizons.

James mostly operated our newest C-Band uplink truck, servicing our highest profile customers such as CBS, NBC and ABC for nationally broadcast television events.  He is highly knowledgeable in the operations, troubleshooting and repair of uplink vehicles.

James also operated our entire fleet of KU and C-Band vehicles (10 units) at various times and is equally knowledgeable on the operations of those. This includes MPEG-2 digital broadcasting using Tiernan and Tandberg equipment.

One of his most recent uplink duties was operating our newest digital KU unit in Japan for the World Cup Soccer matches. A 6-week ordeal of 24/7 news hits.

James was always reliable, on time, neat in appearance and diligent in his duties. He would be a real asset for any operation looking for a competent, qualified broadcast engineer. The best recommendation I can give to James is that as long as he is available and willing to do any freelance work for us, he has been the first call on my list. He has continued to be an outstanding engineer.

 Sincerely,

Timothy Dailey
Chief Engineer

Equipment usage:

For pictures of some of the mobile units I've operated please proceed to: https://members.tripod.com/The_Uplinker/trucks.html

Transmitters:  Aydin, ETM (I'm the one who came up with the original idea of using a shop vacuum to power air-flow when I had an operator lose his fan in Rhode Island, Mark Steele at ETM and Mark Hoderny can confirm), Harris, LNR, MCL (klyston and TWTA), Varian, Xicom.  Upconverters: Harris, LNR, Miteq, Panasonic HDTV modulators, upconverters, Scientific Atlanta.  VTR's - Sony PVW 2800, Sony PVW 2600 Beta, Sony MSWM2000 IMX multi format VTR,  2800 Beta/SP, DigiBeta. Video and Audio switchers:  Grass Valley, Leitch, Ross, Sony and others.  Ancillary equipment: Biscuit boxes,   ClearComs-couplers and IFB, Gentner couplers, Compasses, inclinometers, Oscilloscopes, signal strength meters, Spectrum analyzers, vectorscopes, waveform monitors, analog encryption and digital compression/encryption equipment including Leitch, General Instrument, OakOrion, SA, Tiernan, Tandberg.  In the interests of keeping this document from becoming too long, I'll mangle a cliche!
"Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt, from A = Aydin to X = Xicom"  I honestly couldn't think of any equipment I've used that began with a Z!
