Another Place And Time

What if the doors that

had partly opened had not

been closed by the throes

of uncertainty and pain?

What if the confusion that

consumed like a dark, invincible fog

had lifted to reveal two

hearts of like mind and being?

What if two souls had stepped

towards each other instead

of floundering in a sea of fear,

past mistakes and regrets?

What if another place and time

had seen the inception?

Would the laughter still echo?

Would the dreaming still float

upon the stars?

Would the love remain?

The stars above guard over us still

yet they can not answer my questions.

But the heart knows.
