Those who practice buddhism
but have not yet attained to a state from which they cannot fall back into
worldliness are normally called not a sangha, but a Parisad (assembly
or group). One of the principle purposes of a parisad is to act as much
like a sangha as possible. It is, it could be said, a make believe sangha.
This make believe is done, not only for the benefit of the individuals
who belong to the parisad, but also, for the general welfare of humanity.
